Taking advantage of the unique ecological conditions, Bac Lieu has strongly developed the aquaculture industry, with the main product being shrimp. In particular, the establishment of a high-tech agricultural zone for shrimp development with a scale of more than 418 hectares has made Bac Lieu a "bright spot" in the country in terms of high-tech shrimp farming models.

Specifically, with a total aquaculture area of over 140,000 hectares, producing an annual output of over 388,740 tons, including many effective shrimp farming models such as intensive, semi-intensive, super-intensive, shrimp - rice, shrimp - forest, which are highly appreciated by many domestic and foreign organizations for their sustainability... is a solid premise for Bac Lieu to realize its aspiration of getting rich from shrimp. In particular, in recent years, the province's enterprises have built many modern shrimp farming models applying high technology, leading the country, typically the super-intensive shrimp farming model of the Viet - Uc Group.

When merging with Ca Mau province, this strength is expected to be maximized as both localities are considered key provinces for shrimp farming, which will make Ca Mau province (new) the leader in the country in terms of aquaculture area and export processing output.

One of the other similar strengths that the two provinces still have a lot of room for and promise to lead the entire Mekong Delta region and the whole country is the development of clean energy and renewable energy.

Through the Provincial Party Congresses, Bac Lieu has set a goal of transforming its economic structure towards green and sustainable growth and has chosen renewable energy as one of the top priority areas for development. Up to now, the province has had 8 wind power projects put into operation, with a total capacity of over 469 MW.

Along with its rich potential and strengths in aquaculture, processing, export and clean energy, Bac Lieu also promises to contribute to Ca Mau province (new) in the near future to become a strong province in developing the marine economy.

With over 100 km2 of coastal water surface (coastal alluvial land) and a 56 km long coastline, an exclusive marine economic zone of over 20,700 km2, and many large estuaries: Ganh Hao, Huyen Ke, Cai Cung and Nha Mat; Bac Lieu has favorable conditions for exploitation, fishing, goods circulation and water supply and drainage for aquaculture. In particular, Bac Lieu's sea area is less affected by storms and tropical depressions, so it is very favorable for the development of marine farming models using cages outside the blue water area.

Located in the Southeast fishing grounds, there are more than 2,000 species of fish, of which about 130 species have economic value, the aquatic resources of Bac Lieu sea are also very rich. Promoting this unique strength, in the development orientation, Bac Lieu aims to become a province with a strong marine economy, adapting to climate change, having a synchronous infrastructure system, gradually modernizing, protecting the natural environment, developing sustainably... From these strategic orientations, when merged, Bac Lieu will increase resources for Ca Mau province (new) on the journey to realize the aspiration of getting rich from the sea.

In addition to the above strengths, Bac Lieu has basically formed and developed two economic sub-regions: the key economic sub-region south of National Highway 1 (including the sea area) and the economic sub-region north of National Highway 1 - "satellite" economic regions that contribute to exploiting, promoting and stimulating the overall resilience of the economy.

With the aspiration to rise and develop continuously, the Party Executive Committee of Ca Mau province (new) has unanimously chosen a double-digit growth scenario (with an average GRDP growth rate of 10-10.5%/year in the 2026-2030 period). At the historical turning point of the province's unification, opening a new breakthrough period, the entire Party Committee and People of Ca Mau province (new) are united in their determination to build a rich and prosperous homeland in the era of national development.
