Recently, Pengdao village in Nanan city, Fujian province (China), attracted public attention after a video recording a large scholarship award ceremony, held at the local family church, was posted on social media. It is known that the scholarship fund awarded a total of 217,000 yuan (equivalent to more than 801 million VND).

Dozens of people in the village received educational scholarships (Photo: Jimu).
Accordingly, the scholarship recipients in the clip are 1 student admitted to Tsinghua University as a doctoral candidate, 15 people who will start their master's degree studies, and 46 undergraduate students preparing to enroll.
During the ceremony, these excellent students wore red ribbons engraved with the words "glory of the family", took turns holding incense and bowing before the ancestral tablets.
The public was even more surprised to learn that to date, 33 residents of this small village have received doctorates from prestigious institutions, including Tsinghua University, the University of Hong Kong, Cambridge University in the UK, and Cornell University in the US. Red scrolls with the names of those with doctorates are solemnly hung in a large building in the village.
Nestled in a remote mountainous area, the village is home to around 6,000 residents who have struggled with poverty due to limited arable land.
Therefore, local people are determined to prioritize education for generations.
Since then, the village has developed a long-standing tradition of valuing education, emphasizing the importance of career guidance for children from an early age.
