Unlike the other four teams, Vietnam played all four matches in the first leg in four consecutive days from July 9 to July 12, thus ending the schedule earlier. After a very forgettable opening match against the host Philippines, coach Tran Dinh Tien and his team made a strong comeback with a 3-star victory over Cambodia, then excellently defeated the defending champion Thailand in just four sets.
Unfortunately, in the final match, Nguyen Ngoc Thuan and his teammates took their arch-rival Indonesia to set 5 but still had to accept a narrow 2-3 defeat. After this defeat, Vietnam climbed to the top of the rankings due to playing 1 more match than Thailand.
However, the inherent order was restored by the representative of the "Land of the Golden Pagoda" in the final match of the first leg of SEA V.League 2025 today. Kissada Nilsawai and his teammates had no difficulty in overcoming the newcomer Cambodia with a score of 3-0, thereby successfully defending the championship of the first leg without having to care about the result of the remaining match between Indonesia and the host Philippines.
In this match, although Rivan Nurmulki was kept in reserve and Farhan Halim was injured in set 2, Indonesia still proved to be too strong, easily defeating the Philippines in 3 sets and winning the Silver Medal. Host Philippines ranked 4th, while newcomer Cambodia ranked last.
In addition, the SEA V.League 2025 Organizing Committee also awarded titles to the best individuals in stage 1. The Vietnamese men's volleyball team contributed 2 representatives: Nguyen Ngoc Thuan (Best Attacker) and Tran Duy Tuyen (Best Middle Attacker).
