Thanks to flexible attraction policies, synchronous infrastructure, vibrant international events and improved service quality, the city of the Han River is affirming its position as a leading destination in the region.
Da Nang tourism breakthrough summer 2025
According to statistics, in July 2025 alone, accommodation establishments in Da Nang served more than 1.9 million visitors, an increase of more than 15% over the same period last year. Of which, international visitors reached over 600,000, an increase of 11%, while domestic visitors reached more than 1.3 million, an increase of more than 18%.
In the first 7 months of 2025, Da Nang welcomed more than 10.7 million overnight guests, an increase of 18% over the same period in 2024. Revenue reached VND 33,800 billion, an increase of 23%. In particular, the number of international visitors reached more than 4.2 million (up 21%), while domestic visitors reached nearly 6.5 million (up 17.1%). Revenue from accommodation, food and beverage, and travel in the first 7 months of 2025 is estimated at VND 33,800 billion, an increase of more than 23% over the same period in 2024.
Not only has road and air tourism increased sharply, Da Nang has also recorded positive signals in other types. Sea tourism in July 2025 had 2 trips with 1,900 passengers, while in the same period in 2024 there were no trips. Inland waterway tourism through Han River, Thu River, CT15, and Cua Dai ports reached more than 131,000, an increase of 10%. Aviation continues to play a key role when in July, the city welcomed more than 794,000 passengers via 4,630 flights, an increase of 10.6% over the same period.
Average room occupancy during the summer (June-August) is 75-80%, especially on weekends and holidays when rooms are almost full. Coastal hotels are almost fully booked every weekend in July and are expected to remain so until the end of August 2025.
Flexible policies, large-scale events and synchronous infrastructure
One of the factors that has created a boost for Da Nang tourism this year is the open visa policy. Visa exemptions from 15-45 days for many countries, e-visa application for more than 150 countries and territories, extension of stay from 30 to 90 days, with multiple entry rights, have helped the city attract international visitors to stay longer.
In addition, Da Nang is actively exploiting the MICE and wedding tourism markets, opening more direct international flights from Southeast Asia, Korea, Japan and the Middle East. Since the beginning of 2025, the city has opened two new regular routes Dubai - Bangkok - Da Nang (Emirates) and Yangon - Da Nang (Myanmar Airlines), restored the Osaka - Da Nang route (Vietnam Airlines), along with charter flights from CIS and Macao. Da Nang currently has 21 international routes and 8 domestic routes, with an average frequency of 102 flights/day.
In parallel with the policy, Da Nang organizes a series of large-scale events such as the DIFF 2025 International Fireworks Festival, the 3rd Asian Film Festival, and the Da Nang Enjoy Festival 2025... DIFF 2025 alone, lasting 45 days, attracted more than 1.88 million visitors, an increase of 26% compared to the previous year. Room occupancy on the final night reached 95-97% - the highest level in 3 consecutive years.
Accommodation infrastructure is also a big plus. As of July 2025, Da Nang has more than 2,260 establishments with 65,939 rooms, of which nearly 50% are in the 4-5 star segment, operated by international brands such as Accor, IHG, Hyatt, Marriott, Hilton... Thanks to professional management, international standard service quality, modern facilities and strong marketing activities, Da Nang has become the leading locality in the high-end resort segment.
Imprints from service quality and green tourism
Not only expanding its scale, Da Nang also focuses on improving service quality and aiming for sustainable development. Hotels and resorts actively apply digital technology in booking, payment, customer care; participating in digital transformation programs of the tourism industry.
Environmental protection and tourism security work is being carried out synchronously, from beach rescue, environmental sanitation to anti-tourism. The project “Swiss Tourism for Sustainable Development in Vietnam” for the period 2024-2027 is helping the city build a set of green tourism criteria for food and beverage services, encouraging environmentally friendly tourism models.
Tourism communication and promotion are carried out on multiple channels, oriented to each market, combined with the promotion of awards such as Hoi An in the Top 25 most beautiful cities in the world in 2025, Cu Lao Cham in the group of destinations that say no to plastic waste. These activities contribute to enhancing the image of "New Da Nang - New Experience".
Da Nang is still a "magnet" attracting tourists
According to a representative of Radisson Danang Hotel, this summer the number of visitors increased dramatically compared to last year, especially from new markets such as India, CIS, Saudi Arabia... "Da Nang has done a very good job of promoting, opening more direct flights, creating an explosive effect for the summer market in 2025", this person commented.
Meanwhile, Hadana Boutique Hotel Da Nang representative Nguyen Thi Kim Lien said that room occupancy from January to the end of July reached 95%, room rates were double last year. “Despite high domestic airfares, guests still choose Da Nang, proving the city’s strong appeal. During the International Fireworks Festival, rooms were always 100% full,” Lien said.
Mr. Nguyen Trung Nguyen - Director of Operations of Morie Hoi An Hotel said that international guests account for about 80%, mainly from Australia, UK, US, Korea and Taiwan. "Stimulus programs and good service quality make guests want to come back. The green tourism model also leaves a strong impression on international visitors," Mr. Nguyen shared.
Chairman of the Danang Hotel Association Nguyen Duc Quynh shared that organizing major events, along with the image of Danang as a vibrant, safe, clean coastal city, has helped the city not only become a resort but also a cultural, sports and arts center of the region.
With a combination of flexible policies, high-class infrastructure, professional services, and effective communication strategies, Da Nang has turned the summer of 2025 into a strong boost for the tourism industry. The city not only maintains its attraction to domestic and foreign tourists but also affirms its position on the international tourism map.
