This morning (June 25), on Cam River (Dong Trieu Town, Quang Ninh ), the 45th Traditional Bach Dang River Swimming Competition of Quang Ninh Province and the 29th Traditional Dong Trieu Town River Swimming Competition took place.

The swimming competition had the participation of more than 100 athletes from 3 localities of Quang Ninh province, including: Ha Long City; Dong Trieu Town; Quang Yen Town; of which 80 athletes participated in the Dong Trieu Town Traditional Swimming Tournament.
Athletes compete in the following categories: individual male and female; young male and young female; team male and female, team male and young female; team male and young female; and overall team and overall team with distances from 1 - 3 km.
At around 9:15 a.m., while competing, T.D.Kh (18 years old, residing in Yen Hop area, Yen Tho ward, Dong Trieu town, Quang Ninh) was unfortunately swept away by the water and went missing.
Upon receiving the information, the authorities and the tournament organizers mobilized dozens of people and vehicles to search for the missing victim. By early afternoon of the same day, Kh.'s body was found.
It is known that Kh. is currently studying at Tran Nhan Tong High School and is preparing to take the 2023 National High School Exam.

According to the People's Committee of Dong Trieu Town, before the tournament took place, the organizing committee surveyed the location and found it qualified to open the competition.
The cause of the incident is being investigated by authorities of Quang Ninh province.
