The 2025 Ryder Cup is heating up ahead of the competition taking place in Bethpage (New York), from September 26 to 28.

On Wednesday, US captain Keegan Bradley announced six wildcard selections to complete his squad, with the aim of reclaiming the prestigious trophy on home soil after the previous edition in Rome.

Previously, 6 golfers had officially won tickets including world number 1 Scottie Scheffler, JJ Spaun, Xander Schauffele, Russell Henley, Harris English and Bryson DeChambeau.

The six invites went to Justin Thomas, Collin Morikawa, Ben Griffin, Cameron Young, Patrick Cantlay and Sam Burns.

The big names sitting out include Jordan Spieth and Brooks Koepka. Even Bradley himself ruled out the possibility of naming himself as “player-captain.”

“I decided a long time ago that I wouldn’t do that,” the American golfer said after an excellent season, with the Travelers Championship title – one of the important events of the PGA Tour.

Now the ball is on the European golf team. Captain Luke Donald has six players who have qualified directly: Rory McIlroy, Robert MacIntyre, Justin Rose, Tommy Fleetwood, Tyrrell Hatton and Rasmus Hojgaard.

On September 1, he will announce 6 more golfers to complete the Bethpage squad.

Experts predict 5 names that are almost certain to have a place thanks to their form this season and experience at the Ryder Cup: Shane Lowry, Jon Rahm, Sepp Straka, Ludvig Aberg and Viktor Hovland.

The final ticket will likely be a competition between Nicolai Hojgaard, Matt Fitzpatrick and Marco Penge.

Sergio Garcia – the golfer with the most points in Ryder Cup history – has almost been eliminated from the race, having clearly declined in form since The Masters until now.
