According to data from the independent statistics unit on box office revenue in Vietnam, Box Office Vietnam, at 24:00 on August 28, the film's revenue was at 212.313 billion VND, becoming the first historical, revolutionary war film to reach this revenue level. Thus, "Red Rain" reached the 100 billion mark after 4 days of showing, and reached the 200 billion mark after 8 days of showing, an unprecedented number in the revolutionary war film genre.
“Red Rain” is also the film that is currently showing the most shows at most cinemas and cinema systems nationwide. The film is being loved by audiences and is spreading more and more on platforms and social networks. Many audiences also reported that it is very difficult to book tickets when almost all good showtimes at cinema complexes are full, especially large, modern cinema complexes.
The success of “Red Rain” is a good sign for filmmakers and producers who are passionate about revolutionary war and historical themes, but have long been hesitant because of the lack of conditions to do so, and because of the excessive judgment of the public every time a film about Vietnamese historical themes is released in theaters.
“Red Rain” is a fictional film inspired by the 81-day and night battle at Quang Tri Citadel , produced by the People's Army Cinema, directed by Meritorious Artist Dang Thai Huyen. This is the third film with the theme of revolutionary war to be released commercially in theaters, after the pilot case of “Peach, Pho and Piano” in early 2024 and “Tunnel: Sun in the Dark” released on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day.
The film features many young artists, some of whom are making their first foray into cinema, but it has brought a lot of emotions to viewers. Characters such as Cuong (Do Nhat Hoang), Hong (Ha Anh), Ta (Do Nhat Quang), Hai (Nguyen Hung), Quang (Steven Nguyen), Tu (Nguyen Dinh Khanh), Tan (Tran Gia Huy), Sen (Le Hoang Long)… are all mentioned in many discussions on social networks.
