Following the riots at the Capitol in January 2021, US President Donald Trump faced a "ban" from a series of major social media platforms such as Twitter (now X), Facebook and YouTube.
In response to this move, Mr. Trump officially launched his own social networking platform called "Truth Social" in October 2021, with the statement that it aimed to escape the control of big technology companies.
Social network has 6.3 million monthly users

Truth Social was developed and owned by Trump Media and Technology Group (TMTG), a corporation founded by Mr. Trump himself in February 2021. Although Mr. Trump's accounts on other social media platforms were restored after he returned to running for US President, he is currently mainly active on Truth Social.
With a similar interface and usage to X, Truth Social allows users to share text content (up to 3,000 characters), images, videos , and create polls. Users can also follow friends' accounts, favorite personalities, or join groups with similar interests.
As of January this year, Truth Social recorded about 6.3 million monthly users, a modest number compared to "giants" like Facebook or X. However, President Trump's frequent postings have helped the platform attract a large number of interested users.
How to register a Truth social network account in Vietnam
Initially, Truth Social was limited to users in the US and Canada. After a period of operation, the platform expanded to several other countries such as Germany, Japan, Brazil, Türkiye, Australia, and Mexico. Recently, Truth Social continued to expand its scope of operations, allowing users in Vietnam to register for an account and participate.
To explore this new social networking platform, users in Vietnam can follow these steps:
- Visit Truth Social's official website at https://truthsocial.com/ . Additionally, the Truth Social app is also available for download on Android here or on iOS here.
-At the website interface, click the “Create Account” button to start the process of creating a new account.
- A dialog box will appear asking to verify your date of birth. After filling in the information, click “Next”.
- Next, the user enters the mobile phone number in Vietnam, ticks to agree to the terms of use and clicks “Next”. A confirmation code will be sent to your phone number. Enter this code into the blank box on the website to confirm.
- In the final dialog box, declare the necessary information to create an account, including username, login password (minimum 8 characters, including uppercase and lowercase letters) and email address. Once completed, click “Next”.
Once you have completed the above steps, you will be able to use your Truth Social account. When you log in for the first time, the platform will suggest several celebrity accounts for users to follow, typically the accounts of former President Donald Trump and Truth Social CEO Devin Nunes.
Truth Social’s interface is divided into three main tabs: “For You” shows suggested posts, “Following” shows content from people you follow, and “Groups” shows posts from groups you’ve joined. This structure makes it easy for users to follow content from friends, discover new trends, and not miss important information.
Note
Truth Social requires users to log in with a username instead of a phone number or email address. Therefore, users need to remember the username they created for ease of logging in on other devices.
