A series of universities increase enrollment targets in 2025

(Dan Tri) - In 2025, many universities will increase enrollment quotas in some majors or admission methods.


2025 is the year the first generation of students following the new generaleducation program will take the high school graduation exam.

The exam takes place with two compulsory subjects (math, literature) and two elective subjects from among the subjects that students study at school.

Currently, schools are autonomous in recruiting students according to the Law on Higher Education. According to statistics, there are more than 20 methods of admission nationwide, mainly early admission (considering academic records, international certificates, aptitude tests, thinking tests...).

According to initial announcements from some universities, it is expected that in 2025, enrollment quotas will increase in some majors or admission methods.

Pham Ngoc Thach University of Medicine is the first medical school to announce its enrollment quota and method for full-time students. Accordingly, the school plans to increase enrollment quotas for some majors compared to 2024:

Traditional Medicine increased by 20%; Nursing increased by 10%; Pharmacy increased by 30%. The remaining industries did not increase their quotas.

Regarding admission methods, next year, the school plans to implement 6 admission methods, including: high school graduation exam results; direct admission according to the regulations of the admission regulations; using the results of the capacity assessment test, thinking assessment organized by other units for admission; using only international certificates for admission; combining high school graduation exam results with international certificates for admission; using other methods.

Hanoi University of Industry plans to enroll 7,990 students in 62 majors and training programs in 2025, an increase of 340 targets compared to 2024.

The school uses 5 methods including: direct admission (no quota limit), considering international certificate scores or excellent student awards combined with the transcript scores of all three years of high school of three subjects in a combination (10%); based on graduation exam results (80%); based on the capacity assessment test scores of Hanoi National University combined with transcripts (5%) and the thinking assessment test results of Hanoi University of Science and Technology combined with transcripts (5%).

Compared to last year, Hanoi University of Industry stopped considering academic transcript scores independently, instead combining this criterion with international certificates, excellent student awards, and test scores to assess capacity and thinking.

In 2025, Hanoi University of Science and Technology plans to slightly increase the quota for admission based on the thinking assessment test scores. The school will maintain 3 stable admission methods including: talent assessment, thinking assessment test results and high school graduation exam results. With the high school graduation exam results method, next year it is expected to reduce the quota from 50% to 40%.

Ho Chi Minh City University of Law plans to enroll 4,000 students in 2025, an increase of nearly 800 compared to 2024.

The school plans to open new majors in Banking Finance and International Business.

Of which, the school reserves 55% for consideration based on high school graduation exam scores. In addition, the school recruits directly, considers direct admission, and prioritizes admission according to the regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training .

Also in 2025, the University of Commerce plans to reduce the admission quota based on high school graduation exam scores. However, the school will increase the number of admission quotas based on other methods such as thinking assessment and capacity assessment.

Recently, the University of Transport said that in 2025, it plans to maintain the general training target for the entire school, but will adjust it to prioritize training programs/majors related to high-speed railways and urban railways, microchips, and semiconductors.
