Live schedule of AVC Nations Cup quarter-finals on June 21 - Graphics: AN BINH
In the group stage of this year's AVC Nations Cup, the Vietnamese men's volleyball team played two matches. Despite some difficulties on the opening day, they still defeated New Zealand 3-0 thanks to their superior experience.
But when facing Korea, coach Tran Dinh Tien's team began to reveal many weaknesses. Among them, the blocking line was a big concern when the middle blockers like Duy Tuyen and The Khai showed signs of being slow. They also did not have the ability to judge situations well, leading to many times of leaving the blocking line and allowing the opponent to easily score.
This is a serious problem for the Vietnamese men’s volleyball team. They are having an impressive attacking style, with two high-performing attackers, Ngoc Thuan and Quoc Duy. But their loose defense has caused unfortunate results.
The men's volleyball team will face a tough test when they face Qatar in the quarterfinals of the AVC Nations Cup this year. The match will take place at 8:30 p.m. on June 21.
Before that at 3pm will be the match between Australia and South Korea. The team that was in the same group with the Vietnamese men's volleyball team is predicted to win to get a ticket to the semi-finals.
At 6pm, there will be a very interesting match between Indonesia and Pakistan. These are two teams with quite similar strength. Indonesia is a real force in Southeast Asia, having won the SEA Games gold medal three times in a row.
Meanwhile, Pakistan are the reigning runners-up of the AVC Nations Cup (formerly AVC Challenge Cup). So this is the most anticipated match in the quarterfinals.
The final quarter-final will take place at 11pm between Bahrain and Chinese Taipei.
