New industrial sector grows impressively
In the first half of 2025, Vung Ang Economic Zone witnessed a bustling production atmosphere. Two large battery factories: VinES Ha Tinh Battery and VinES-Gotion Lithium Battery Joint Venture operated at high and stable capacity, meeting the growing demand of the electric car manufacturing industry.

According to the assessment, in the first 6 months of 2025, the expected battery pack output will reach more than 14 thousand packs, an increase of 7 times over the same period last year; the expected battery cell output will reach more than 9.4 million cells, marking the impressive entry into the province's new industrial sector. This result also strengthens Ha Tinh's position on the battery component manufacturing map of the North Central region, one of the industries identified as a spearhead in the strategy for green and sustainable industrial development.
In particular, at the end of June, the VinFast Ha Tinh Electric Car Manufacturing Plant invested by Vingroup was inaugurated and put into operation, an important "piece" in the green industrial production ecosystem. With a design capacity of about 200,000 vehicles per year in the first phase, this is not only a "gold mine" for budget revenue but also promotes the development of the production - supply - logistics value chain in the region, helping the province realize the orientation of green growth and sustainable development according to the Provincial Planning for the period 2021 - 2030, with a vision to 2050.

Mr. Nguyen Viet Quang - Vice Chairman and General Director of Vingroup said: "The inauguration of VinFast Ha Tinh factory is an important milestone in VinFast's long-term development strategy and global production expansion. VinFast Ha Tinh factory will contribute to VinFast's goal of producing 1 million vehicles per year".
In traditional industries, although there are many challenges in the first half of 2025, key products still grow quite well. The estimated output of yarn production is 5,018 tons, an increase of 29.87% over the same period in 2024, continuing to maintain its position as one of the province's key export products.
The electricity production industry is expected to reach more than 6 billion kWh, up 4% over the same period; the mining industry increased by 20.23%; the processing and manufacturing industry increased by 4.92%; electricity production and distribution increased by 2.38%; water supply and waste and wastewater treatment increased by 4.57%. In the industrial picture in the first half of the year, steel production (down 6%) and beer (down 1.5%) are the two industries that continue to face difficulties due to the impact of the export market, causing output to decrease.

In the first 6 months, the province's industrial production index is estimated to increase by 4.62% over the same period last year, reflecting the positive and new movement of the key economic sector.
Mr. Le Xuan Tu - Deputy Director of the Department of Industry and Trade said: “The industrial production index in the first 6 months of 2025 increased quite well thanks to positive impacts from the economy, boosting the index of some key industries. In particular, the mining industry's production increased sharply thanks to many large projects being implemented simultaneously, licensed and expanded mines; fiber and textile production maintained positive growth momentum from international market signals, the trend of increasing textile raw material imports. In particular, battery factories have played a strategic role in forming new industrial value chains, opening up room for sustainable growth, contributing to restructuring in a positive direction, green goals, high technology".
New impetus for year-end growth
In early July, the construction site of the Bac Thach Ha Industrial Park Infrastructure Investment and Construction Project Phase 1 (VSIP Ha Tinh Industrial Park Project) is focusing on leveling the ground and building infrastructure. Every day, hundreds of specialized machines and vehicles are mobilized to speed up the progress.

According to the representative of Vietnam Singapore Urban and Industrial Park Development Joint Stock Company - the project investor, to date, VSIP Ha Tinh has completed compensation and site clearance for 190.1/190.41 hectares; completed the weathering of the topsoil layer for the allocated land area (119.79 hectares) and issued the first construction permit. The contractors have also completed leveling about 25 hectares, about 30% ahead of schedule and are continuing to level the ground for about 45 hectares of industrial land. At the same time, the project has implemented 3 construction leveling packages to serve the construction of infrastructure for main roads in the industrial park; and is preparing to build an open drainage system for the industrial park in the third quarter.

Also in July, Vung Ang II Thermal Power Plant is expected to put into operation Unit 1; Vinhomes Vung Ang Industrial Park and Gia Lach Industrial Park expansion are implementing site clearance work... which are activating high and sustainable growth impulses for Ha Tinh industry.
Mr. Pham Tran De - Deputy Head of the Provincial Economic Zone Management Board said: “There are 198 valid projects in the economic zones and industrial parks, mainly industrial investment projects. In the past time, the unit has always accompanied and supported investors in legal procedures; coordinated with the implementation of site clearance to implement projects; resolved quickly, shortening the processing time of documents and procedures. Currently, many large domestic and foreign investors are researching and proposing investments such as: Gas Power Plant Project and Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LNG) Reception and Distribution Center Complex in Vung Ang Economic Zone (3 billion USD), Stainless Steel Factory Project in Vung Ang Economic Zone (1 billion USD)... These are important growth drivers for industrial development in the coming time, especially the energy industry and the processing and manufacturing industry”.

In order to promote industrial development, contributing to the province's economic growth target of 8% by 2025, the Department of Industry and Trade continues to focus on promoting production and business activities, especially key industries; coordinate to support investors and enterprises in implementing projects and expanding markets; promote human resource training, meeting the requirements of industrialization in a modern, green and sustainable direction.
