Attractive prizes right from the opening match
The fast-paced plays, breathtaking score chases and surprising results create a frenzied atmosphere right from the first day of competition.
In the opening match against Cambodia on the evening of July 7, the Vietnam Police I team took to the field with a force consisting mainly of young players from the Hanoi Police U21 team. Despite playing with great effort and eagerness to show off, the home team still faced many difficulties against an opponent who was somewhat superior in experience and "old-fashioned" on the field - when most of the Cambodian players were competing in the national championship of this country.
From the very first minute, the visiting team Cambodia dominated the match by constantly putting pressure on the opponent's field. Taking advantage of the home team's defensive mistakes, Cambodia scored two goals in the first 20 minutes.
However, at the end of the first half, the CAND Vietnam I team also scored a goal to shorten the score after Hai Binh's accurate shot from a free kick on the right wing, rekindling the hope of a comeback for the red-shirt players.
In the second half, the home team's coaching staff decided to strengthen the attack by sending two players playing in the V.League, Trung Anh and Ngoc Thang.
However, this adjustment did not create a clear change. Although The Cuong scored another goal for CAND Vietnam I, Cambodia still maintains a solid and effective attack, scoring two more goals to close the match with a 4-2 victory.
Despite their best efforts, the young Vietnamese players encountered many difficulties against experienced opponents.
Meanwhile, in the match taking place at the same time at PVF Stadium, the CAND Vietnam II team had an impressive start with a 3-0 victory over Singapore. Duc Nam shone with a double, while the remaining goal was scored by Tran Van Hoa, helping the army team convincingly win all 3 points.
Earlier, in the opening match at 4pm, Group A testified Thailand's easy victory over Laos with a score of 2-0. Pasakorn Nonthakamchanra opened the scoring from the penalty spot in the 6th minute, before Sutin Iamsa-Ard doubled the gap in the 67th minute.
One of the biggest surprises of the first round was Timor Leste's “destructive” victory over Australia with a score of 7-1 in Group B. Silveiro shone with 4 goals, Juvencio contributed a double and Zeferino scored the remaining goal for the East Timorese representative. Dao Anh Tuan was the one to score an honorary goal for Australia in a match in which they were completely outclassed.
With an emotional start and highly rated professional quality, the 2025 ASEAN Police Football Tournament promises to bring many dramatic and exciting matches in the coming days. The teams will not only compete for the championship, but also contribute to strengthening the friendship and cooperation between police forces in the region.
