According to the Daily Mail, scientists recently conducted a new analysis of the "Villena treasure", a treasure consisting of 59 gold-plated objects found in 1963 in Spain. This treasure is about 3,000 years old.

Two of the objects, a hat and a bracelet, are composed of meteoritic iron (iron and nickel) - found in meteorites.

New analysis of an ancient treasure trove in Spain reveals many artifacts were made from "extraterrestrial metals" 3,000 years ago.

According to the research team's estimates, this extraterrestrial material came from a meteorite that crashed into Earth a million years ago.

The researchers further explained that meteoritic iron is composed mainly of silicates - a salt made of silicon and oxygen. In addition, they also contain other minor and trace chemical elements, with cobalt being one of the most important.

The “Treasure of Villena,” discovered on Spain’s Iberian Peninsula, offers a glimpse into how humans transitioned from stone to bronze. However, the treasure may have belonged to an entire community, not just a single royal family.

Using fallen meteorites as

Using fallen meteorites as " fashion accessories" was a common practice thousands of years ago.

About 90% of the collection is made of 23.5 carat gold, including 11 bowls, 3 bottles and 28 bracelets.

The artifacts were discovered by archaeologist José Maria Soler in December 1963, while he and his team were excavating a dry riverbed called the "Rambla del Panadero". They have since been stored in the city's archaeological museum.

Using fallen meteorites as “fashion accessories” was a common practice thousands of years ago. A similar artifact was found in the tomb of Tutankhamun.

Specifically, in 2016, researchers at the Egyptian Museum in Cairo, the Polytechnic University of Milan and Pisa (Italy) announced an intricately decorated dagger wrapped in a gold sheath, with a blade made of meteoric iron.

The dagger is considered one of the most remarkable items recovered from the tomb of Pharaoh Tutankhamun. The gold handle is intricately embossed with crystals while the sheath is decorated with a pattern of feathers and jackal heads.
