(NLDO) – Defeating the Japanese pair in the final, Jolie Lam and Sophia Phuong Anh excellently won the U18 women's doubles championship at the 2025 Asian Youth Pickleball Championship.

The 2025 Asian Junior Pickleball Open takes place from July 13 to 15 in Da Nang , a prestigious competition organized by the Asia Federation of Pickleball (AFP), bringing together many excellent young players from many countries and territories across the continent.

In the U18 women's doubles event that ended on the evening of July 14, the two representatives of the host country, Ngo Lien Chung Thien Lam (Jolie Lam) and Sophia Phuong Anh, excellently won the championship. With impressive techniques and outstanding coordination, this duo had overwhelming victories on their journey to the championship.

In the group stage, the Vietnamese pair won 11-0 against Aditi Matta and Nishtha Gupta in their opening match. Jolie Lam - Sophia Phuong Anh defeated Stuti Stuti and Aadi Kundra with a score of 11-2 in the next match, thereby convincingly winning the group and advancing to the quarterfinals.

Facing compatriots Vu Yen Nhi and Vu Yen Phuong in the quarter-finals, Jolie Lam and Phuong Anh continued to have an impressive 11-0 victory. Facing the very strong Shi Yile - Chia Yi Lee pair in the semi-finals, despite having to play against them, the two young Vietnamese talents showed their fighting spirit to win 11-7.

In the final, the two Vietnamese representatives played excellently and completely overwhelmed Kei Sawaki and Horii Yuna, winning with a score of 15-4, thereby officially winning the U18 women's doubles championship. This is a strong mark of Jolie Lam and Phuong Anh in the continental youth arena.

Ngo Lien Chung Thien Lam (Jolie Lam) is considered the most talented young player in the Vietnamese women's pickleball world today. The player born in 2008 stands out with her height of 1.70m and her abundant physical strength thanks to her tennis career. Having been familiar with tennis since the age of 12, Jolie Lam recently won 3 titles at national youth tournaments in 2024.

Although she has only been practicing pickleball for about 5 months, Jolie Lam already has an impressive collection of titles and is a familiar face on the podium at major pickleball tournaments in Vietnam.

"We are very happy and surprised with the achievements our daughter has made. Currently, the family is investing as much as possible in Jolie Lam's pickleball development. We hope that in the near future, there will be benefactors and sponsors who will join hands with the family to support Jolie," said Mr. Lien Ngo Nhut Quoc Dai, Jolie Lam's father.

At the Asia Pickleball Junior Open 2025, Jolie Lam will also compete in the U18 girls singles event on July 15. After that, the 17-year-old player will travel to participate in the International Pickleball Tournament in Malaysia from July 17 to 20.
