Workshop on domestic solid waste management and implementing extended producer responsibility

On the afternoon of July 3, in Pho Hien ward, the Department of Agriculture and Environment coordinated with the Department of Environment (Ministry of Agriculture and Environment) to organize a workshop on domestic solid waste management and implementation of extended producer responsibility (EPR). Attending the workshop were representatives of the Department of Environment; Department of Agriculture and Environment, a number of units and production enterprises of 10 provinces and cities in the Northern region.

At the workshop, delegates were informed of instructions on the implementation of household solid waste classification and household solid waste treatment models in urban and rural areas; instructions on the implementation of product and packaging recycling responsibilities and waste treatment responsibilities of manufacturers and importers (on the National EPR Portal); and an introduction to the draft Decree of the Government detailing a number of articles of the Law on Environmental Protection on product and packaging recycling responsibilities and waste treatment responsibilities of manufacturers and importers.

Delegates attending the workshop exchanged and discussed a number of related contents such as: The implementation of domestic solid waste management in localities and difficulties and obstacles; giving comments on the draft Decree of the Government detailing a number of articles of the Law on Environmental Protection on the responsibility of recycling products, packaging and waste treatment responsibility of manufacturers and importers.

On the same day, delegates learned about the actual production and solid waste treatment process at Thuan Duc Joint Stock Company (Luong Bang commune).
