Thanh Hoa Provincial Association of the Elderly summarizes project VIE071

On the morning of November 28, the Standing Committee of the Association of the Elderly (NCT) of Thanh Hoa province in coordination with the Organization for the Assistance of the Elderly International (HAI) in Vietnam held a conference to summarize the "Project VIE071 - Reducing income and health vulnerabilities of the elderly in Vietnam" in 2024.

Project VIE071 is funded by the Government of Japan through the Japan Social Development Fund entrusted by the World Bank. The project aims to reduce income and health vulnerability of the elderly by increasing their participation in income-generating activities and the use of self-care and community-based social care services.

Chairman of the Provincial Elderly Association Nguyen Duc Thang delivered the opening speech at the conference.

This is the fourth year that HAI Organization has coordinated with Thanh Hoa Elderly Association to implement Project VIE071 in the districts of Yen Dinh, Dong Son, Nga Son, Hau Loc, Quang Xuong and Sam Son City.

Permanent Vice President of the Provincial Elderly Association Ngo Ton Tan presented a report on the project implementation results.

After 4 years of implementing the project, 30 intergenerational self-help clubs have been established, with 1,710 members participating. Of these, 978 club members received loans from the project; 160 people received home care; 559 elderly people received assistance with rights and benefits, and 318 elderly people with sudden difficulties received timely assistance.

In addition, 100% of the clubs maintain regular monthly activities. Members participating in club activities are consulted about health, weight, blood pressure measurement... In addition, the clubs strictly implement monthly, quarterly and annual reports to the association levels and HAI Organization...

Conference overview.

At the conference, delegates shared the results of the activities of the intergenerational self-help club and the impact of the club on members and the community where the club is located, especially those in difficult circumstances; the club's contribution to the implementation of programs and policies for local socio -economic development; the results of coordination between the health sector, the association of the elderly at all levels and the club in implementing elderly health care activities in the community.
