From 3:00 a.m. on July 30, heavy rain began to appear in many areas of Lam Dong and Binh Thuan provinces. According to data recorded until the end of July 30, the average rainfall at 12 hydrological stations in the Ham Thuan lake basin reached 89.7 mm. Of which, the rainfall at Ham Thuan hydropower plant and Ham Thuan spillway during the day was 142.4 mm and 128.8 mm, respectively.

At 11:00 a.m. on July 30, the flood appeared on Ham Thuan Lake with a flow of 303.88 m3 / s, reaching its peak with a flow of 927.1 m3 / s at 1:00 p.m. the same day. Ham Thuan Hydropower Reservoir has played a role in flood prevention by cutting off the entire flood, ensuring safety for the downstream areas of Tanh Linh and Duc Linh districts in Binh Thuan province.

Heavy rain on July 30 caused flooding at Loc Nam culvert in Bao Lam district, Lam Dong province and landslides on National Highway 55 in Da Mi commune, Ham Thuan Bac district, Binh Thuan province. As of 2:00 p.m. on July 31, the water level of Ham Thuan Lake was at 592.634 m, about 12.37 m above the normal water level. With its current flood capacity, Ham Thuan Lake will continue to play a role in flood regulation, ensuring safety for the downstream of Binh Thuan province when the rainy season in the La Nga River basin has entered its peak.
