" I have been working in Vietnam since 2019. Currently, there are 6 players from the Vietnam U20 women's team called up to the Vietnam national team. I hope that in the upcoming World Cup, head coach Mai Duc Chung will give opportunities to young players. Although they are still young, they have tried to follow their seniors and performed well in the team. I hope they will develop well in the future, " said the head coach of the Vietnam U20 women's team, Mr. Akira Ijiri.
In fact, coach Mai Duc Chung has called up many young players to the Vietnam women's team. Veterans Thuy Trang, Huynh Nhu, Tuyet Dung and Hai Yen are all old and the next generation needs to develop. Some young talents of Vietnam women's football are proving their abilities such as Thanh Nha, Van Su, Vu Thi Hoa, Tran Thi Hai Linh and Thu Xuan.

Returning to the 2024 AFC U20 Women's Championship qualifiers, Vietnam's U20 women's team secured an early ticket to the finals after two important victories over Iran's U20 women's team and Lebanon's U20 women's team. The home team played impressively but lost 0-2 to Australia's U20 women's team in the final match thanks to two beautiful long-range shots by Alana Murphy.
Speaking about the match, Mr. Ijiri Akira said: " The players tried their best, but losing today's match is my fault. We have met Australia 3 times but have not scored any goals. I think the players need to improve their technique, fitness and many other factors."
Meanwhile, the head coach of the Australian U20 women's team - Ms. Leah Blayney expressed: " We are ready for the final round of the 2024 AFC U20 Women's Championship. The Vietnam U20 women's team is a strong team, plays well, and is well organized. In recent years, they have improved well, so in continental tournaments they play well and are highly competitive ."
