Hanoi adds lifts to serve disabled people in public toilets

TPO - Hoan Kiem District ( Hanoi ) has just renovated the public restroom at 8 Le Thai To (Hang Trong Ward), including adding a lift to serve the disabled.

Speaking to Tien Phong reporter, representative of Hoan Kiem Lake and Hanoi Old Quarter Management Board (Hoan Kiem district) said that Hoan Kiem Lake is located in the center of Hoan Kiem district and is an important urban "face" of Hanoi capital. This is a place that attracts many domestic and foreign tourists to visit and experience, so the demand for public toilets (PWC) in this area is very large.

Implementing Program No. 03-CTr/TU of the Hanoi Party Committee on "Urban beautification, urban development and urban economy in the period of 2021-2025" and Program No. 04-CTr/QU dated August 6, 2021 of the Hoan Kiem District Party Committee on "Renovation, beautification and urban development of Hoan Kiem district", the District People's Committee has directed the district's functional units to review and inspect public service facilities in the district, especially the area around Hoan Kiem Lake, to detect problems in order to have a plan for timely renovation, maintenance and maintenance to ensure cleanliness and convenience for tourists.

Specifically, Hoan Kiem district has completed the renovation and put into use the public restroom at 8 Le Thai To to serve the needs of residents and tourists. The project has a total investment of more than 1.6 billion VND from the district budget and socialized capital (Bao Viet Group sponsored 500 million VND).

The NVSCC No. 8 Le Thai To was reorganized and renovated with interior spaces including: Basement with men's restroom, women's restroom, tool storage, stairwell and lobby. The first floor added a room for the disabled combined with a changing area for children; management room, stairwell and lobby, steps. The toilets were also re-tiled and sanitary equipment replaced. In particular, the NVSCC No. 8 Le Thai To was added with a lift to serve the disabled.

In the coming time, the district's functional units will continue to review and inspect public service facilities in the district, especially the area around Hoan Kiem Lake, and plan repairs and renovations to better serve the needs of residents and tourists, ensuring urban civilization in the central area of the capital.
