Comrade Le Hong Son, Deputy Head of the Standing Committee, Propaganda Department of Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, delivered a concluding speech at the seminar.

Associate Professor, Dr. Ngo Thi Phuong Lan, Head of the Propaganda Department, Ho Chi Minh City National University, said that in Ho Chi Minh City, there are currently 58universities , 376 vocational training institutions; 2,341 educational institutions from preschool, primary, secondary, high school, and specialized high schools. Currently, the number of party members in educational institutions is 36,837 (accounting for 14.63% of the city's total party members), of which cadres and employees: 7,059 party members (19.16%); lecturers and teachers: 26,536 party members (72.04%); students: 3,188 party members (8.6%) and pupils are 54 party members (0.15%).

Identifying political and ideological work in educational institutions as particularly important, of strategic and long-term significance, in recent times, the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee has devoted much attention and direction to raising awareness of the entire political system towards this work. Party committees of educational institutions have also proactively developed plans to strengthen political education among students through training and creating sources for Party development among students; improving the quality of activities of political and social organizations in schools, gradually strengthening trust and arousing the desire to contribute in the young generation...

Spread positive information

According to Mr. Nguyen Dang Khoa, Head of the Propaganda and External Relations Department, Ho Chi Minh City Youth Union, the survey results of more than 2,000 union members and students of the City Youth Union (in 2022) showed that the average time union members and students spent on social networks was Facebook - with 2.54 hours/day, followed by Zalo: 2.47 hours/day, YouTube: 1.63 hours/day, TikTok: 1.49 hours/day.

Since then, the Ho Chi Minh City Communist Youth Union has considered cyberspace as an important "front" for young people and has created youth activities on cyberspace to carry out many activities, such as: online volunteering to spread the values of the city's youth model and volunteer culture, applying live broadcasting technology on community pages to organize study sessions on topics about studying and following Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and style; propagating and thoroughly grasping resolutions of Party congresses at all levels...

Meanwhile, regarding the teaching of the History of the Communist Party of Vietnam in private universities, Dr. Hoang Thuy Linh, lecturer of the Department of Party History and Ho Chi Minh Thought, Van Lang University, said that: currently, when teaching the History of the Communist Party of Vietnam, most lecturers use traditional methods, teachers impart knowledge, students passively receive, teachers exclusively evaluate... so they have not awakened the passion and thinking ability of learners with dry theory, little connection with reality, and have not shed light on complex issues of life. To overcome this situation, in non-public schools, it is necessary to focus on improving the practicality in teaching so that the subject becomes more interesting, attractive and closer to learners.

According to MSc. Nguyen Minh Hai, Head of the Press and Publishing Department, Propaganda Department of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, it is necessary to improve the quality and effectiveness of education for students in studying and following Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and style. With the rich and multi-dimensional impact of information, culture, lifestyle, etc., young people easily have distorted perceptions about many issues of the country and society. Therefore, continuing to educate Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and style in a deeper, more complete, more comprehensive, more specific and more convincing way in schools is even more necessary in the current period.

Speaking at the conclusion of the seminar, comrade Le Hong Son, Deputy Head of the Standing Committee of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee's Propaganda Department, said: "The organizing committee has received more than 30 presentations along with methods, experiences and contributions that were directly exchanged and shared on strengthening political and ideological work in educational institutions in the city. It can be seen that educational institutions have always paid special attention to political and ideological education for students in both real and cyberspace. In the coming time, educational institutions need to continue to pay attention to political and ideological education, promote good practices, and spread positive educational methods. Along with that, the leadership team of the institutions must be pioneers, setting an example for the younger generation to follow."
