The Twilight of the "GOAT"
In his 14th Wimbledon semi-final appearance and 52nd Grand Slam semi-final appearance, Novak Djokovic entered the match against Sinner with the desire to aim for the 25th Grand Slam title of his career.
However, contrary to expectations, the Serbian player was completely helpless against the youth, precision and courage of his opponent from Italy.
Unlike the magnificent and majestic "Twilight of the Gods", this Wimbledon semi-final carried the sad melody of a farewell song.
Djokovic, 38, with a heavy stride and obvious signs of fatigue after a muscle injury in his quarter-final against Flavio Cobolli, was no longer physically fit enough to keep up with the fast pace and powerful serve of Sinner, who had fully recovered from an elbow injury and was in top form.
In the first set, Sinner only took 30 minutes to defeat his senior with impressive serving performance, only losing 2 points when serving. Djokovic continuously made mistakes and lost the break twice, while moving somewhat slowly.
In the second set, the situation did not improve much for Nole. Each sustained ball showed a clear difference. Sinner moved smoothly, hit the ball accurately and continuously forced Djokovic into a passive position.
The Italian took great chances with his tricky backhands, sometimes leaving Djokovic several metres away from the ball.
Historic match for Italian tennis
This victory not only brought Jannik Sinner to the Wimbledon final for the first time in his career, but also marked a historic milestone for Italian tennis.
He became the third Italian player in history to reach the Wimbledon final (after Matteo Berrettini and Malvina Paoloni), and surpassed the legendary Nicola Pietrangeli to become the Italian player with the most Grand Slam finals with a total of 5 (Australian Open champion, Roland Garros runner-up and Wimbledon finalist in 2025).
Against Djokovic, Sinner showed superiority both in tactics and physical strength. Although Djokovic tried to fight back at the beginning of the third set and broke to lead 3-0, Sinner did not lose his composure.
The Italian player adjusted the tempo, regained control and won the next five games. Djokovic struggled to save three match-points, but on the fourth opportunity, he was completely helpless.
Despite the defeat, Djokovic still received a thunderous applause from the audience in the stands. Courage, spirit and pride are always what make the Serbian tennis player loved.
Perhaps, if this is his last time playing at Wimbledon, it will be an emotional farewell.
Dream Final: Sinner vs Alcaraz
With this victory, Sinner will meet Carlos Alcaraz again in the second consecutive Grand Slam final between the two. Previously at Roland Garros, they created a classic battle that lasted 5 hours and 29 minutes.
This time, at Wimbledon – where composure and quick handling on the grass court are required – fans are expecting a “battle of the future”, where two “child prodigies” officially compete for the throne.
Sharing before the final, Alcaraz cautiously said: "I don't think I have an advantage against Sinner. He is playing great tennis and is very difficult to beat."
Whoever wins, the upcoming match at the All England Club will certainly be a brilliant new chapter in the world of men's tennis, where a new generation officially steps up to the top, after the legendary pages of Federer, Nadal and Djokovic.
