TV series “Hau Giang Thuong Nho”: A harmony between tradition and modernity

The TV series “ Hau Giang Thuong Nho” recreates the journey of more than 21 years of formation and development of Hau Giang province. This is a land rich in revolutionary traditions, culinary culture and the hope for innovation, now becoming a part of modern Can Tho city. The film was written by writer Doan Tuan, directed by Meritorious Artist Ho Ngoc Xum, produced by Can Tho Newspaper and Radio - Television.

The film revolves around two young characters named Mai - a girl who sticks to traditional values and Phong - a boy with new ambitions. The conflicts of ideals between the two gradually transform into harmony in love and responsibility for the homeland, highlighting the message of the harmonious combination between preserving identity and sustainable development.

According to the members of the Appraisal Council, “Hau Giang Thuong Nho” was filmed and completed in post-production within 2 months, which is a “miracle”, and can accumulate the greatest energy for the entire crew. The film has received many positive reviews from experts. Associate Professor, Dr. Do Lenh Hung Tu, Chairman of the Vietnam Cinema Association, Vice Chairman of the Council commented: “The film brings a clear message about integration and preserving cultural values. The performance of young actors brings a unique Western flavor”. Director Nguyen Quoc Hung commented: “The script is tight, rich in emotion with a multi-layered character system, truly reflecting the solidity between tradition and modernity”.

The film recreates the cultural and historical space of the South.

“Hau Giang Thuong Nho” is not simply a story, but also recreates the cultural and historical space imbued with the Southern character: amateur music, Ao Ba Ba festival, traditional craft villages, historical battles at Vam Cai Sinh, Chuong Thien, Xa No canal… All create an epic that is both authentic and poetic, touching the hearts of viewers. The film brings information: sustainable economic development cannot be separated from the work of preserving cultural and historical identity. This is also a common lesson in the process of developing the country today.

The 20-episode TV series “Hau Giang Thuong Nho” will be broadcast from September 3, 2025 to 8:15 p.m. every Monday to Sunday on Can Tho Television 2. The broadcast of this film coincides with the 80th anniversary of the successful August Revolution (August 19, 1945 - August 19, 2025) and the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2025), contributing to spreading the image of Can Tho City to the audience nationwide.
