Pepper price updated today June 7, 2025

According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, in the first 6 months of the year, pepper exports reached 124.9 thousand tons, bringing in 859.6 million USD, down 12.4% in volume but up 35.7% in value compared to the same period last year. The average export price reached 6,881 USD/ton, up 54.8%.

The US, Germany and India are the three main export markets, accounting for 26.8%, 9.2% and 7.7% of market share respectively. Export turnover to India increased by 86.7%, Germany increased by 73.7%, and the US increased by 34.8%.

Among the 15 largest markets, the UK recorded the highest increase in pepper export value, up 2.1 times, while the Netherlands decreased by 12.5%.

The Import-Export Department (Ministry of Industry and Trade) forecasts that domestic pepper prices will remain low in the short term as many farmers and investors are still holding onto their goods, waiting for fourth prices to increase again in the third and quarters.

This hoarding temporarily reduces supply in the market, because of expectations that prices will recover strongly in the near future.

In the international market, the strengthening of the US dollar and military tensions in many regions have made investors more cautious about pepper. In addition, increased transportation costs also put pressure on prices in the short term.

In the medium and long term, supplies from Brazil and Indonesia will significantly influence the market. Indonesia is expected to start harvesting in July, while Brazil will start its next harvest in the provinces of Espirito Santo and Para in the middle of the year after completing its eastern crop.
