In Ho Chi Minh City (formerly merged Ba Ria - Vung Tau), pepper price today is at 139,000 VND/kg, unchanged from yesterday.

In Dong Nai (formerly merged Binh Phuoc), pepper price today is at 139,000 VND/kg, unchanged from yesterday.

After a sharp increase at the beginning of the month, domestic pepper prices are currently hovering around VND139,000 - 141,000/kg. This is still the highest price in the past year, reflecting a shortage of supply while export demand remains stable. The pepper harvest in Vietnam has basically ended, making domestic pepper collection no longer as abundant as before.

Lam Dong Province is currently the largest pepper growing area in the country with about 36,000 hectares, possessing favorable climate and soil conditions, especially basalt red soil areas suitable for high-quality pepper. The province has developed about 30 pepper production facilities that meet certification standards, with an area of over 3,100 hectares. In particular, two high-tech pepper areas in Thuan Hanh Commune with a total area of over 1,549 hectares have been recognized, where people produce according to organic and Rainforest standards and are certified with the collective brand name Dak Song Pepper, as well as the geographical indication of Dak Nong Pepper.

Since early 2025, the Vietnam Pepper and Spice Association (VPSA) has coordinated with export enterprises to organize many training courses on clean pepper production for farmers, cooperatives and purchasing enterprises in Lam Dong. The training courses focus on sustainable farming techniques according to GAP and organic standards, pesticide residue control, harvesting, drying and preservation techniques to limit impurities and harmful microorganisms, and identifying risks from traditional items that can cause poisoning.

VPSA President Hoang Thi Lien emphasized that the biggest risks currently come from the cultivation and post-harvest preservation process. She recommended that pepper growers proactively preserve their products in clean, cool places, avoid contamination, and not consign their products to agents without a clear contract to avoid risks in price and quality. Farmers are also advised to take advantage of the high pepper prices to maximize profits, making up for past periods of low prices.

In the world market, pepper consumption demand remains positive, especially from the Middle East, India, the US and Europe, as these countries increase imports to meet year-end demand and stockpiling. Concerns about a shortage of goods from Indonesia, which is also entering the final stages of the harvest, further increase pressure on global supply.

Global pepper output is forecast to continue to decline in 2025, creating favorable conditions for Vietnam to consolidate its export position if it takes advantage of its advantages in quality, reputation and clean products. Large domestic enterprises are stepping up investment in building processing plants and developing organic raw material areas, contributing to creating momentum for the clean pepper value chain.

Lam Dong is orienting the development of clean pepper not only to maintain output but also to focus on building sustainable, environmentally friendly values and meeting international integration requirements, thereby enhancing the competitiveness of Vietnamese pepper in the international market.
