Faced with that situation, on July 3, 1965, the Ministry of National Defense issued Decision No. 114/QD-QP to establish the 26th Information Regiment (the predecessor of the 26th Information Brigade), under the Air Defense - Air Force Service on the basis of merging the 26th Information Battalion of the Air Defense Command and the 92nd Information Battalion of the Air Force Department.

Implementing the Decision of the Ministry of National Defense, after a period of preparation, on July 20, 1965, the Air Defense - Air Force Service held a ceremony to announce the decision to establish the 26th Information Regiment. In the early days, the unit faced many difficulties, such as: rudimentary equipment, inexperienced officers, large operating areas, many sudden mobile missions... However, with the spirit of "sticking to the machine, sticking to the radio", officers and soldiers of the Regiment quickly stabilized the organization, consolidated forces, strictly maintained the on-duty order, built combat plans to ensure smooth and solid information communication to serve combat command and combat readiness (SSCD). Typical achievements were, the Regiment ensured information communication for the 236th Missile Regiment to win the first battle (July 24, 1965) and the air defense cluster ambushed and shot down 5 enemy aircraft (July 27, 1965).

During the resistance war against the US to save the country, the Regiment always fulfilled its mission of ensuring TTLL, serving the Service Command in commanding combat, winning combat readiness, contributing to defeating the US air raids on Hanoi, Hai Phong and neighboring provinces; defeating the technical, tactical and electronic warfare tricks of the US Air Force, the peak of which was the "Hanoi-Dien Bien Phu in the air" Campaign (December 1972). The more it fought, the more the Regiment matured rapidly, becoming stronger in all aspects, both politically , ideologically and organizationally, both technically and tactically; the quality of ensuring TTLL for the Service was increasingly improved. In combat, many typical examples appeared, such as: Martyr Le Van Tho determined to stick to the machine until his last breath; comrade Phan Hanh Thoa - the person who sent more than 100,000 precise radio groups; Female pilot Nguyen Thi Huong - the person who marked the first group of B52 planes on the night of December 18, 1972...

After the South was liberated and the country was unified, implementingthe President 's Decree, in 1977, the Air Defense - Air Force Service was divided into two Services: Air Defense and Air Force. Accordingly, the 26th Information Regiment ensured information and communication for the Air Defense Service, a part separated to form the 252nd Regiment of the Air Force Service. During the period 1977-1999, the two Regiments continued to promote their traditions, successfully completing the task of ensuring information and communication in all situations.

On March 3, 1999, President Tran Duc Luong signed a decree to merge the two Services into the Air Defense - Air Force Service. On July 21, 1999, the Minister of National Defense decided to merge the 26th Information Regiment and the 252nd Regiment into the 26th Information Brigade, marking a new step in the development of the organization and force of the TTLL in the Air Defense - Air Force Service. Accordingly, the officers and soldiers of the Brigade always uphold the spirit of solidarity, overcome difficulties, and have high determination to successfully complete the task of ensuring TTLL to serve combat command, airspace management, flight operations and combat readiness, contributing to firmly protecting the sacred airspace, sea, islands and continental shelf of the Fatherland.

With outstanding achievements in the resistance war, the unit was awarded the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces (in 1978); was awarded many noble awards: 6 Military Exploit Medals of various classes, 19 Military Exploit Medals, First, Second, Third Class Fatherland Protection Medals; many certificates of merit from the Prime Minister... In particular, on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the Traditional Day (July 20, 1965 / July 20, 2025), the President signed a Decision to award the First Class Fatherland Protection Medal to the 26th Information Brigade.

Entering a new stage with increasingly high requirements for protecting the Fatherland, promoting the tradition of a heroic unit, the 26th Information Brigade is determined to strive to fulfill 5 key tasks: 1, building a clean and strong Party organization, a comprehensively strong Brigade that is "exemplary and exemplary"; enhancing political mettle, self-reliance, overcoming difficulties, and excellently completing tasks. 2, effectively implementing the Resolution of the 8th Central Committee (13th tenure) on the Strategy for protecting the Fatherland in the new situation; strictly maintaining the order of combat readiness, suppressing unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), protecting assigned targets, and ensuring smooth communication in all situations. 3, improving the quality of training according to the motto "basic, practical, solid, safe, economical"; training soldiers to be good at traditional information, mastering high technology; strictly maintaining discipline, and not allowing any insecurity to occur.
