The International Cooperation Department (Ministry of Education and Training) said that during the working visit, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Kim Son witnessed the signing and exchange of 10 bilateral and multilateral memorandums of understanding (MOUs) between Vietnamese and Hungarian highereducation institutions. The signing of cooperation agreements will create a closer and deeper link in educational cooperation between Vietnamese and Hungarian higher education institutions, while also bringing benefits to lecturers, researchers and students of the two countries.

According to the Ministry of Education and Training, since 2016, the number of Hungarian scholarships for Vietnam has been 100 full scholarships. Since 2017, Hungary has increased the number of scholarships granted to Vietnamese students to 200 at all levels of training in different professions.

In September 2013, the Government of Vietnam and the Government of Hungary signed an Agreement on cooperation in training, research, regulation and technology in the use of nuclear energy for peaceful purposes. During the period 2013-2015, Hungary helped Vietnam provide short-term training for human resources in nuclear energy. Specifically, it has trained over 200 lecturers in nuclear energy for 5 universities.

Vietnamese universities have also actively cooperated in exchanging teachers and students and training with Hungarian universities and colleges. Currently, there are 479 Vietnamese students studying at various levels in Hungary, of which the number of Vietnamese students studying on their own is estimated at about 100.

Over the years, Vietnam has trained a number of Hungarian students to study Vietnamese language. However, since 2020, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, there have been no Hungarian students studying in Vietnam.

The Vietnamese Ministry of Education and Training has been implementing educational cooperation programs between Vietnam and Hungary for the 2022-2024 period, making full use of 200 Hungarian Government scholarships for Vietnam every year, and encouraging universities to cooperate bilaterally in all areas of education.
