Counter-Strike 2 (CS2) , the legendary shooting game from Valve, has always been famous for its expensive items. Many in-game items have been traded at "sky-high" prices of up to hundreds of thousands of USD.

Recently, the Vietnamese CS 2 gaming community has been buzzing with the news that a lucky gamer has owned the extremely rare weapon skin "Talon Knife Case Hardened Blue Gem". According to initial estimates, its value could be up to more than 200,000 USD (equivalent to 5 billion VND ).

Specifically, information about this event was posted by an anonymous gamer in the Vietnamese CS 2 community. The post has currently received more than 1,500 likes and 600 comments.

In CS 2 , players can obtain “Weapon cases” through gameplay or purchase directly from the store. To open these boxes, players need the corresponding key. They cost between 2-15 USD depending on rarity.

Notably, other Talon Knife skins on the market are only traded in the range of 300-1,000 USD . The "sky-high" difference in value comes from the unique "Blue Gem" element.

This can be considered a "one of a kind" item in the game because the Blue Gem skin is a super rare pattern variation of the "Case Hardened" skin line. Opening the crate does not guarantee that the player will receive the Case Hardened skin. It is even more difficult with the version that owns the extremely rare "Blue Gem" pattern.

Matthew “Nadeshot” Haag, CEO of CS 2 team 100 Thieves, spent around $15,000 on loot boxes. However, the results were disastrous as he only got two items worth a total of $300 .

Despite being a completely free-to-play game, CS 2 has a huge and vibrant economy revolving around weapon skins obtained from Weapon Cases. Players can freely buy, trade, and sell these items to each other. In the past, many rare skins have been traded for hundreds, thousands, and even hundreds of thousands of dollars.

Currently, the owner of this rare item has refused to make any comments on the incident.

This isn't the first time a "Blue Gem" skin has caused a stir with its huge price tag. Previously, a gamer offered $1.5 million in Bitcoin to own the unique "Factory New Case Hardened Blue Gem" Karambit knife. However, no transaction has been made yet.

According to Kotaku , the most expensive item ever traded in CS 2 was the “AK-47 StatTrak Case Hardened Factory New” with Blue Gem motif sold by user X “roflm0nster” for over $1 million .

While the exact figure was not disclosed publicly, the seller confirmed to IGN that it was a seven-figure transaction. “What I can say is that offers of $1 million were rejected multiple times. Draw your own conclusions,” the seller revealed. This suggests that the final sale price was significantly higher than the $1 million mark.
