Right perception for right action

One weekend afternoon, at the hall of Regiment 8, many officers and soldiers participated in a contest to learn about the law through dramatization in an exciting atmosphere. Each short skit such as: "Absent without permission", "Arguing in the unit", "Violating regulations when using social networks"... vividly reflected real-life situations, bringing humorous laughter, while also having profound legal education meaning. After each performance, there was a discussion, analysis, and guidance on handling in accordance with the law and regulations. Private Cao Dai Nghia, a soldier of Company 16, Regiment 8, shared: "The propaganda content is both familiar and has practical examples, so it is easy to understand and remember. Thanks to sessions like this, we have a better understanding of the provisions of the law, seemingly small things but can lead to violations".

Officers of Company 16, Regiment 8 (Division 395, Military Region 3) talk, encourage, and grasp the soldiers' thoughts.

Not stopping at the concentrated activities, Regiment 8 also builds a scientific, flexible, focused, and key legal education plan for each month and quarter. In particular, the unit focuses on linking educational content with the practical tasks of training, combat readiness, and daily life of soldiers. Captain Pham Hoai Nam, Political Commissar of Company 16, Regiment 8 said: “We take soldiers as the center to design educational content. There are violations that stem from lack of understanding, so we must educate them to understand correctly, from there they can act correctly. Each educational session is an opportunity to strengthen awareness, helping soldiers mature and live more responsibly towards the collective.”

Flexible and creative in implementation

With the motto "law is closely linked to each step of military growth", in addition to regular classes, activities, "One law per week", "Legal stories"..., the unit also organizes online law competitions, effectively promoting the model "Military psychological and legal counseling team". Currently, the model "Military psychological and legal counseling team" is deployed in all battalions and companies, and has been promoting positive effects. Here, the team of political officers and military doctors coordinate to listen to the thoughts and aspirations of soldiers; advise on how to handle difficult situations related to law, emotions, family... Thereby, many cases are resolved promptly, limiting the occurrence of negativity. Senior Lieutenant Mai Van Giang, Propaganda Assistant of Regiment 8, shared: “The law cannot be taught only in theory but must be linked to the soldiers' lives. Therefore, the unit is always flexible and creative in implementation, mobilizing the participation of all officers and soldiers. Typically, the unit's Youth Union launched a contest for short stories on the topic of law, organized a forum "Young soldiers with law and discipline", built a column "Talking with comrades" on the internal bulletin board... from there, gradually forming the habit of behaving in accordance with the law and regulations in the military environment".

Thanks to the persistence and synchronization in implementation, legal education work in Regiment 8 has brought about clear changes. Since the beginning of the year, the Regiment has had no soldiers seriously violating discipline, the rate of common violations has decreased by more than 30% compared to last year; self-awareness, sense of responsibility and team spirit in the unit have been increasingly strengthened. Lieutenant Colonel Tran Van Toi, Political Commissar of the Regiment, affirmed: “The most important thing is to create changes from within each soldier. Legal education is not only to know but also to live according to the law, behave in a civilized and responsible manner. When each soldier strictly abides by the law and discipline, the unit will be truly strong”.

Currently, Regiment 8 continues to focus on improving the quality of the legal propaganda team; integrating legal education into all activities of the unit; promptly updating new documents and typical situations to serve as educational materials. At the same time, the unit promotes the model of "cadres grasping the law - soldiers understanding the law, living correctly", linking the effectiveness of legal work with the results of emulation, monthly evaluation of cadres, party members and soldiers. By approaching closely, vividly, linking legal education with each soldier, each daily activity, Regiment 8 has been gradually bringing the law into the lives of soldiers. That is not only a motto for action but also a commitment to responsibility, the foundation for building a strong, comprehensive, disciplined and safe unit.
