The 5th Infantry Division was established on November 23, 1965 on the battlefield of the Southeast region. Over the past 60 years, generations of officers and soldiers of the division have overcome countless hardships, sacrificed, fought with intelligence and courage, and achieved many resounding victories, contributing to the liberation of the South, the unification of the country, and the implementation of international missions in Cambodia, building and defending the Fatherland. The division has been twice honored by the Party and State with the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces and many other noble awards.

At the workshop, delegates contributed many enthusiastic and responsible opinions. Based on the opinions, the Party Committee and the Division Commander will compile a history book of the 5th Infantry Division to organize printing and publishing on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the 5th Infantry Division's Traditional Day.
