General Nguyen Tan Cuong chaired the August General Staff meeting.

On the afternoon of August 28, General Nguyen Tan Cuong, member of the Party Central Committee, member of the Central Military Commission, Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army, Deputy Minister of National Defense chaired the August 2025 meeting of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army.

Attending the conference were Deputy Chiefs of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army: Senior Lieutenant General Huynh Chien Thang, member of the Party Central Committee; Senior Lieutenant General Phung Si Tan; Senior Lieutenant General Pham Truong Son; representatives of leaders and commanders of agencies and units under the General Staff.

The conference unanimously assessed that in August, the General Staff directed the entire army to successfully implement and complete its tasks. The entire army strictly maintained combat readiness, grasped the situation, promptly advised and effectively handled situations, avoided being passive or surprised, firmly protected territorial sovereignty ; coordinated to maintain security and order nationwide; protected the safety of the activities of Party and State leaders and activities celebrating the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day September 2.

Units throughout the army organize training, drills, competitions, and sports events closely, according to the program and plan; direct forces to train, mobilize forces, practice together, practice comprehensively, and rehearse the parade and march to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day September 2 to ensure safety and discipline. Implement adjustments to force organization, ensure weapons and equipment are tight and in accordance with regulations. Proactively organize forces and means to be ready for the tasks of preventing and fighting natural disasters, searching and rescuing, etc.

Speaking at the conclusion of the conference, General Nguyen Tan Cuong commended the agencies and units for their efforts in completing their assigned tasks, including joint training, comprehensive training, and preliminary rehearsal of the parade to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day, September 2.

In the coming time, General Nguyen Tan Cuong requested the entire army to continue to strictly maintain combat readiness; monitor and grasp the situation, especially in key areas, promptly advise and effectively handle situations, not to be passive or surprised. Proactively coordinate with forces to maintain security and order nationwide; ensure security and safety for the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day on September 2; strictly implement the combat readiness plan to protect the election of the 16th National Assembly and People's Councils at all levels for the 2026-2031 term.

Units have increased patrols, control, and strictly managed the border, prevented illegal entry and exit, and sabotage activities by reactionary forces, especially during the celebration of the August Revolution and National Day on September 2; protected the safety of marine economic activities; and resolutely prevented and stopped illegal, unreported, and unregulated (IUU) fishing.

Implement the management and use of defense land in accordance with the law. Strictly implement management measures to ensure flight safety. Continue to implement the Plan of the Ministry of National Defense and implement the Conclusion of the Central Military Commission Standing Committee on adjusting the organization and staffing of the Vietnam People's Army for the period 2025-2030 and the following years. Organize parades and marches during the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day on September 2 to ensure quality and safety. Strictly maintain regular regimes and discipline management; ensure safety when participating in traffic; organize patrols, guard, and protect the safety of agencies, units, and warehouses. Academies and schools organize health checks for students admitted in 2025, organize opening ceremonies, summaries, and commend students to ensure solemnity and compliance with regulations. Implement national defense work well in ministries, branches, and localities.

General Nguyen Tan Cuong also requested units to pay close attention to the natural disaster situation and assigned the Department of Rescue and Relief to closely monitor, research, and make early forecasts to have timely and effective response plans. Units should strengthen inspection and review of military areas; do a good job of preventing and fighting fires, floods, landslides, and ensuring the safety of units and warehouses during the rainy and stormy season. Strengthen information security and network security. Deploy defense diplomacy activities, international cooperation, and peacekeeping as planned. Carry out judicial, inspection, legal, auditing, investigation, prosecution, trial, and execution of judgments in accordance with regulations...
