Along with the rapid, timely and effective implementation of projects and policies to support livestock development in the province, Dong Cuong commune also focuses on propagating and mobilizing people to pay attention to applying scientific and technical advances in large-scale livestock farming from breeding development, feed, care, disease prevention... bringing high economic efficiency.
A typical example is Mr. Vu Van Khai's household in Thac Cai village, with the advantage of having mixed garden land, large fields, and many fields, the family has grown grass, grown corn, utilized corn stalks, and stored all the straw from two rice crops a year as food for cattle, which is favorable for developing a model of raising cattle and buffalo with a scale of 10 or more.
Mr. Khai shared: "To help the livestock grow and develop stably, in addition to ensuring food all year round, I also actively participate in training courses on technology transfer in livestock farming organized by the district and commune, then research books, social networks, learn from successful livestock farmers to improve experience, care techniques, prevent diseases; detect and identify symptoms of diseases for effective treatment, bringing stable income to the family".
Along with raising large livestock, many households with the advantage of land far from residential areas have chosen the model of developing pig farming, creating suitable jobs for family workers, bringing high income such as Mr. Ha Van Nhuong's household, Khe Cham village with a model of raising sows, scale of 15 pigs.
Mr. Nhuong shared: "As a farmer, pig farming has been with my family for many generations. However, in the past, we only raised pigs on a small scale to serve our family, without paying attention to care techniques, and the efficiency was not high. In recent years, to improve efficiency and product quality, after being guided by officials as well as through many times of research and consultation in some places, I boldly borrowed more capital to invest in expanding the barn to raise 15 sows."
Thanks to proper care and attention to disease prevention, Mr. Nhuong's family's sows grow and develop very well, bringing in a revenue of more than 150 million VND/year.
Mr. Nguyen Thanh Nam - Chairman of Dong Cuong Commune People's Committee said: "In order to effectively deploy and implement the models, the commune has proactively reviewed, evaluated, and analyzed the current status of local potential strengths, labor qualifications, conditions of each household, each village as well as the thoughts, aspirations, and essential needs of the people, thereby providing orientations, advice, and helping them develop economic models that are close to local realities, effectively exploiting local strengths, and meeting market needs. At the same time, there are proposals and recommendations to all levels and sectors to have appropriate policies. Along with that, the commune directs professional staff to proactively transfer scientific and technical knowledge to the people to improve production and business efficiency".
With the close supervision of local authorities and the efforts of each person, the livestock economy of Dong Cuong commune has developed strongly with the total output of fresh meat of all kinds in 2024 reaching 523 tons, contributing significantly to raising the average income per capita to 60 million VND/year and reducing 61 poor households in 2024.
