On July 17, in Hanoi, the National Health Information Center ( Ministry of Health ) organized a workshop on solutions for implementing electronic medical records, aiming to promote and raise awareness of medical facilities about the role and benefits of digital transformation in the health sector.

According to the Ministry of Health, electronic medical records are one of the important pillars in the digital transformation roadmap of the healthcare sector, contributing to improving the quality of medical examination and treatment, optimizing the management, storage and sharing of medical information, while ensuring the accuracy, connectivity and confidentiality of people's health data.
According to the Ministry of Health's plan, before September 30, hospitals nationwide must complete the implementation of electronic medical records, but so far only 270/2,800 facilities have implemented electronic medical records.
"This is a modest number compared to the set target. The main reason is that many medical facilities still face difficulties in terms of funding, technological infrastructure, human resources, as well as a lack of synchronous coordination between sectors and levels," said Mr. Do Truong Duy, Director of the National Center for Health Information.

To remove difficulties and speed up the implementation of electronic medical records, the Ministry of Health recently issued Circular 13 to replace Circular 46/2018. At the same time, the National Health Information Center also has specific technical requirements for the implementation of electronic medical records, including technical instructions for the implementation of electronic medical records.
In the coming time, the Ministry of Health will issue Technical Guidelines for implementing the electronic medical record system, along with documents to help standardize and simplify the process to support medical facilities with additional legal and technical basis to implement on schedule.
