Grigor Dimitrov stunned world No. 1 Jannik Sinner (Italy) by winning the first two sets with a score of 6-3 and 7-5. The 34-year-old Bulgarian player only needs to win one more set to create the biggest shock at Wimbledon 2025. Especially when Sinner is not in the best shape because the Italian player also had problems with a pain in his hand from the second set.
But Grigor Dimitrov was unlucky. When the score of game 3 was 1-2 in favor of Sinner, Grigor Dimitrov made a direct serve to level the score at 2-2.
This served traveled at 96 miles per hour and injured Dimitrov.
The Bulgarian immediately sat down on the court, clutching his chest in pain and screaming: "My pecs, my pecs."
From the opposite side of the court, Jannik Sinner approached his colleague with a bewildered look. In the stands, the legendary Roger Federer also showed concern with an uneasy face.
After receiving medical attention, Dimitrov confirmed that he could not continue playing. When he returned to the court to get his bag, Dimitrov received encouragement from the audience.
Everyone saw that Dimitrov's injury was quite serious as he shook hands with the umpire uncomfortably. Disappointedly eliminated, Dimitrov has not been able to reach the quarterfinals of a Grand Slam since 2014.
