Discussion forum on radio development in the new period

- On the morning of June 20, at the national press forum in 2025, a discussion forum was held on "What mechanism for radio to develop in the current period". The speakers participating in the forum were representatives of the Institute of Journalism and Communication, Academy of Journalism and Propaganda, Voice of Vietnam Radio, Ho Chi Minh City People's Radio, Phu Tho Provincial Radio and Television, Thanh Hoa Newspaper and Radio and Television.

In fact, in the digital age, when short videos , social networks and podcasts are exploding, radio is gradually "transforming" to be strongly reborn in the digital space, fast, flexible, close and easily absorbed into the hearts of readers.

Discussing at the Seminar, the speakers shared about the difficulties and challenges that radio media is facing in the current period, from human resources, finance, management mechanisms... In addition, they discussed the role of radio, creating mechanisms and resources strong enough for radio to develop appropriately in the new situation (recognizing the role of radio; mechanism for ordering and investing in radio content; training and fostering radio personnel; digital content strategy for radio).

In the current new situation, although radio is no longer the “monopoly”, it still holds an important position, especially in policy dissemination, community engagement, and cultural dissemination, especially in rural, mountainous, and island areas. For radio to develop, in addition to the love of the profession of journalists, there needs to be a strong enough mechanism, a policy and a long-term vision from the management agency, along with innovation in content and technology for radio in the coming time.
