Propose that the police have a plan to protect threatened journalists

On May 29, Mr. Nguyen Quoc Hiep, Deputy Director of Dak Lak Department of Information and Communications, signed a document to send to Dak Lak Provincial Police and Cu Kuin District Police requesting verification and handling of acts of threatening and intimidating the life of journalists.

According to this document, on May 28, the Dak Lak Department of Information and Communications received a document from the Editorial Board of Tien Phong Newspaper, along with a criminal complaint from journalist Nguyen Van Tuan, in charge of the Tien Phong Newspaper Representative Office in the Central Highlands region, requesting protection for reporters and journalists working in the province.

At the same time, through monitoring and synthesizing information reported by the press, in recent days, a number of press agencies have published news and articles reflecting the incident in which journalist Nguyen Van Tuan (pen name Tuan Nguyen) was threatened by a number of people on the phone, threatening his life during his field work in Cu Kuin district. This threat directly harmed the spirit of journalist Nguyen Van Tuan and his family members. The incident also caused concern and anger among journalists, negatively affecting the security and order situation in the province.

Realizing that this is a serious incident, the Department of Information and Communications of Dak Lak requested the Provincial Police and the People's Committee of Cu Kuin District to direct specialized agencies to urgently verify, investigate, and strictly handle those who threaten and intimidate the life of journalist Nguyen Van Tuan, in order to protect the life, honor, and reputation of journalists and ensure a safe press working environment in the province.

Dak Lak Department of Information and Communications also requested Dak Lak Provincial Police to direct and coordinate with relevant agencies to have a plan to protect journalist Nguyen Van Tuan and his family members.

As Thanh Nien reported, previously, Tien Phong Newspaper sent an official dispatch to the Vietnam Journalists Association , Dak Lak Provincial Police, Dak Lak Department of Information and Communications and a number of related units, requesting protection for reporters and journalists working in the area.

According to Tien Phong Newspaper, while acting as an investigator on the illegal purchase and exploitation of agricultural land to build a number of roads in Dak Lak, journalist Nguyen Van Tuan, Head of Tien Phong Newspaper's Central Highlands Office in Dak Lak, received phone calls from several people threatening to kill his entire family.

The editorial board of Tien Phong Newspaper requests relevant agencies to investigate and strictly handle those who threaten, protect journalists and ensure security and safety in the area.
