Ms Paetongtarn ordered the police and security agencies to promptly investigate the incident, arrest the perpetrators and bring them to justice. She also instructed the authorities to strengthen security measures at all upcoming festivals to ensure public order and safety.

According to AP news agency, two suspects were arrested after the incident.

According to Thai Defense Ministry spokesman Thanathip Sawangsang, local police reported a fight between rival groups before the explosion; there is no greater security threat at this time. Forensic evidence suggests the explosive device was a homemade bomb.
