On the morning of July 4, General Nguyen Tan Cuong, member of the Party Central Committee, member of the Central Military Commission, Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army (VPA), Deputy Minister of National Defense chaired a conference to review the staff work of the entire army in the first 6 months of 2025.

The report at the conference affirmed that in the first 6 months of 2025, the General Staff directed the entire army to successfully complete regular and ad hoc military and defense tasks, with some tasks completed excellently and with breakthroughs.
The highlight is that the entire army strictly maintains the combat readiness regime, tightly manages the airspace, sea, border, inland and cyberspace, promptly advises and effectively handles situations to avoid being passive and surprised. Coordinates to maintain security, politics, social order and safety nationwide, and protects the safety of important political events of the country and the Army.
Since the beginning of the year, 27 inspection teams have been organized to inspect 63 units in the entire army on combat readiness work; inspect the results of military and defense tasks and rearrange military and local agencies when implementing two-level local government; promptly adjust and supplement the system of combat documents, and improve combat readiness capabilities.

Along with focusing on adjusting the organization of the force to be lean, compact, and strong according to Resolution No. 05-NQ/TW of the Politburo; submitting to the Standing Committee of the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense to adjust the organization and issue a table of organization and staffing to meet the requirements of the task, the units continue to innovate and make breakthroughs in training tasks according to Resolution 1659 of the Central Military Commission on improving the quality of training for the period 2023-2030 and the following years; organizing training, competitions, sports, and drills for the subjects to ensure the content, programs, and plans; checking the "three explosions" of training new soldiers to ensure safety and good results. National defense work in ministries, branches, and localities has been closely implemented. Accordingly, training in national defense and security knowledge has been conducted for more than 39,000 cadres, party members, dignitaries, and religious officials; national defense and security education for more than 3.64 million students; The construction quality and operational efficiency of the Militia and Self-Defense Force have been improved...
Speaking at the conference, General Nguyen Tan Cuong commended the outstanding results in performing tasks of agencies and units throughout the army in recent times.
To complete the 2025 task with better results than in 2024, General Nguyen Tan Cuong requested the entire army to thoroughly grasp, seriously and effectively implement "3 focuses, 3 drastic measures" according to the direction of General Secretary To Lam, Secretary of the Central Military Commission at the 14th Central Military Commission Conference and the direction of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh at the Military-Political Conference of the entire army in the first 6 months of 2025; effectively implement 16 key tasks for the 2021-2026 period of the Central Military Commission; Conclusion of the Central Military Commission on the results of leadership in implementing military and defense tasks, building the Army Party Committee in the first 6 months of the year and key tasks in the last 6 months of 2025; Conclusion of the Minister of National Defense at the Military-Political Conference of the whole army in the first 6 months of 2025 and Command of the Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army on military and defense work in 2025.

Proactively improve the capacity to research, forecast, and correctly assess the situation, promptly provide strategic advice to the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense, report to the Party and State leaders to plan military and defense policies and strategies to meet the requirements of the task of protecting the Fatherland in both the short and long term; successfully handle situations, avoid being passive or surprised. Synchronously and effectively implement the Resolution of the 13th Central Committee, Session 8, on the Strategy for Protecting the Fatherland in the new situation; complete the summary of 10 years of implementing Resolution 347 of the Central Military Commission on improving the quality of research, forecasting and strategic advice on defense until 2020 and the following years.
The Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army reminded the entire army to strictly maintain the combat readiness regime, closely monitor and manage the airspace, sea, border, inland, cyberspace, especially key areas, firmly protect sovereignty and territory. Closely coordinate with forces to maintain political security, social order and safety, protect important political events of the country, focusing on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day September 2; party congresses at all levels, towards the 14th National Party Congress. Strengthen the inspection of combat readiness of units; adjust strategic deployment, defense plans, and combat plans according to new administrative boundaries; study the art of combat and reasonably organize specialized forces at each level, effectively deal with unmanned warfare vehicles, warfare using high-tech weapons, etc.
General Nguyen Tan Cuong noted that the entire army innovates and makes breakthroughs in training tasks according to Resolution No. 1659 of the Central Military Commission on improving training quality for the 2023-2030 period and the following years; Directive 79 of the Minister of National Defense on building a comprehensively strong "exemplary and typical" unit in the entire army.
Units focus on training subjects closely, ensuring programs and plans. In particular, night training, mobile training, high-intensity training in all conditions, close to tasks, subjects, areas and combat plans, paying attention to the work of imparting practical experience, improving practical capacity, mastering weapons and equipment in the establishment, especially new and improved weapons and equipment. Comprehensive training for subjects, focusing on newly established and merged units. Complete and put into training, educating subjects a system of documents and curriculum suitable to the reality and new organization of the Army.
Organize competitions, sports events, and drills at all levels in a practical and safe manner; host and participate in domestic, regional, and international sports competitions with high results; train and organize parades and marches in the 80th National Day Celebration on September 2 with quality and safety.
