On December 13, the Office of the People's Committee of Quang Nam province said it had received an official dispatch from the People's Committee of Nam Tra My district submitting to the People's Committee of this province a proposal for a list of potential hydropower projects to be researched, surveyed and added to the district's Power Plan 8.
The Office has forwarded the document to the Department of Industry and Trade so that the Department can preside over and coordinate with relevant sectors and localities to research, propose, and advise on solutions according to its authority.
Previously, the People's Committee of Nam Tra My district sent an official dispatch to the province proposing a list of potential hydropower projects to be researched, surveyed, and added to Power Plan 8.
According to the official dispatch, based on Decision No. 500 of the Prime Minister on approving the national power development plan for the 2021-2030 period, with a vision to 2050 and Decision No. 72 of the Prime Minister on approving the planning of Quang Nam province for the 2021-2030 period, with a vision to 2050, with the potential for existing renewable energy development, the basic power transmission infrastructure is basically complete (110kV voltage level), and the demand for electricity consumption in the district and other areas is relatively large.
Investment and development of power sources in the district is currently very necessary and needs investment attention.
Based on the proposal of investors, the District People's Committee requests the Provincial People's Committee, the Provincial Department of Planning and Investment, and the Provincial Department of Industry and Trade to consider allowing units to conduct research, survey, and complete additional documents to the Power Plan 8 in the area.
According to the list of projects proposed to be added to the planning, there are up to 15 hydropower projects proposed by investors, all of which are small and medium-sized hydropower plants with a capacity of 4-30MW.
It is known that currently in Nam Tra My district, there are 12 hydropower projects in the planning, of which 1 project is in operation (Tra Linh 3 hydropower plant). 7 projects are under construction including Nuoc Bieu, Dak Di 1, Dak Di 2, Nuoc Buu, Tra Linh 1, Tra Linh 2, Tra Leng 2 hydropower plants and 4 projects are being prepared for investment.
According to statistics, Quang Nam currently has 40 hydropower projects with a total designed capacity of over 1,752MW. Of which, 10 are cascade hydropower projects with a total capacity of 1,205MW, and 30 are medium and small hydropower projects with a total designed capacity of 547MW.
There are 29 power plants in operation, 6 projects under construction, and 5 projects undergoing investment procedures.
