On the morning of June 29 in Da Nang , the DANAFF III Organizing Committee held a press conference before the opening ceremony taking place the same evening.
After two successful editions, DANAFF III with the theme “DANAFF- Asia Bridge”, returns with a new step forward in scale and artistic quality.
DANAFF III aims to select and honor outstanding cinematographic works, rich in humanistic values, with new discoveries and unique artistic expressions; connect and encourage new talents of Vietnamese cinema and the Asia- Pacific region; widely introduce to the public new cinematographic works, with high content and artistic values of Asia and Vietnam; promote the sustainable development of the young generation of filmmakers; contribute to promoting the image of Da Nang city as a creative, cultural and high-class tourism center in the region.

This year, DANAFF III has made remarkable progress in terms of scale, duration and program content with many new highlights such as: Half a century of Vietnamese war films program; Korean cinema spotlight program; Project incubator; especially noteworthy is the birth of the program "Asian Cinema Panorama" - selecting excellent and successful Asian cinema works at international film festivals in the past year, along with films selected for premiere and the appearance of the "Asian Film Critics Award".
Speaking at the press conference, Vice Chairwoman of the Da Nang People's Committee Nguyen Thi Anh Thi said: The Da Nang Asian Film Festival is not only a place to introduce excellent works, but also a space for meeting, cooperation and spreading inspiration between filmmakers, artists and audiences. In particular, with the support of international organizations, seminars and exchange activities. We believe this will be an opportunity for Vietnamese cinema as well as Da Nang to have more voice on the regional and world cinema map.

Through this Film Festival, the image of Da Nang will be imprinted in the hearts of international friends not only as a destination for cultural and tourist attractions but also as a creative, connected and open city to art, especially the seventh art.
“The Da Nang City government will create all favorable conditions for the Film Festival to take place successfully, safely and impressively. We hope that every moment of the Film Festival will be a beautiful and memorable memory for all of you when coming to our beautiful and hospitable coastal city,” Ms. Thi emphasized.
During the event week, there will be a program of Asian and Vietnamese films competing; the program “Vietnamese Cinema Today” with 19 new Vietnamese films produced in the past year; seminars and talks; artist-audience exchanges; a workshop on “Nurturing Talents”; and visits to and promotion of historical sites and scenic spots.

Movie screening program with 106 movies and 184 screenings at free theaters: Le Do, CGV, Galaxy, Lotte and outdoor movie screenings at: Bach Dang Walking Street, Sea Park, Lien Chieu District Administrative Center Square.
Film categories in the Asian Film Awards: including 14 feature-length films from the Asia-Pacific region introduced by domestic and foreign film organizations. Films produced from April 1, 2024 to March 15, 2025.
Vietnam Film Awards category: includes 12 Vietnamese feature films produced from May 1, 2024 to April 30, 2025 and licensed for distribution in Vietnam.

Film programs not competing with the program “Today’s Vietnamese Cinema”: 19 selected Vietnamese films produced from May 1, 2024 to April 30, 2025, including a film program about Da Nang. All films have been licensed for distribution in Vietnam.
DANAFF III 2025 with the expected prestigious awards such as the Asian Film Competition Award Category decided by the Asian Film Jury, including Best Asian Film (125 million VND, equivalent to 5,000 USD); Special Jury Prize for Asian Film (75 million VND, equivalent to 3,000 USD); Best Director (50 million VND, equivalent to 2,000 USD); Best Actor (50 million VND, equivalent to 2,000 USD); Best Actress (50 million VND, equivalent to 2,000 USD); Best Screenplay (50 million VND, equivalent to 2,000 USD).
The categories of the Vietnamese Film Awards are decided by the Vietnamese Film Jury, including: Best Vietnamese Film (70 million VND); Special Jury Prize for Vietnamese Film (40 million VND); Best Director (20 million VND); Best Actor (20 million VND); Best Actress (20 million VND) and Best Screenplay (20 million VND).

The NETPAC Award for Outstanding Vietnamese Film is decided by the NETPAC Jury, selected from the Vietnamese Films in competition, without prize money.
Audience Award for the most favorite Vietnamese film voted by the audience among the films participating in the program “Today’s Vietnamese Cinema”, no prize money included….
With its scale, professionalism and high professional quality, the Organizing Committee expects the event to bring outstanding works, promote learning and professional exchange. This is not just a Film Festival, but a journey connecting Asia-Pacific cinema, honoring works rich in humanity, unique art and new talents of the regional cinema. At the same time, the event contributes to promoting the image of Da Nang as a modern center of creativity, culture and tourism, connecting internationally through the language of cinema.
The 2025 Danang Asian Film Festival will take place in Danang city from June 29 to July 5.
