The photo of Ronaldo with two children, believed to be the two Portuguese players as children, was shared after a similar photo went viral on social media showing Argentine star Lionel Messi posing with Barcelona player Lamine Yamal as a child.
Ronaldo's post with the photo reads: "Cristiano with Nuno Mendes and two-month-old Vitinha at the Lisbon Hospital in 2006. He chose them 17 years ago to end Messi's career. Amazing. Time flies."
The post has attracted more than 260,000 views with more than 1,000 reposts and more than 8,000 likes as of July 1.
However, after checking, The FactCheckHub found that the claim in the post was false. The photo in question is of Ronaldo's newborn twins taken in 2017, not babies Mendes and Vitinha taken in 2006.

Ronaldo, a Portuguese footballer born in 1985, has maintained a professional football career for more than two decades.
In 2025, he continued to play for Al-Nassr Football Club in Saudi Arabia and is one of the few elite football players still playing at the age of 40.
Ronaldo currently plays in the Portugal national team alongside Vitor Machado Ferreira (25), also known as Vitinha, and Nuno Mendes (23).
Experts at The FactCheckHub found that the viral photo was posted online in 2017.
An earlier version of this photo was shared by Ronaldo himself as well as the Daily Mail and Indian Express .
According to media reports, the photo shows Cristiano Ronaldo's twins, who were born via surrogacy.
Similarly, Ronaldo posted a photo on his social media account X on June 29, 2017 with the caption: "So happy to be holding the two new loves of my life."
In short, the information that the photo of Ronaldo with his two children Nuno Mendes and Vitinha in 2006 is false. The photo is of Ronaldo with his two children in 2017.
