According to the 12th grade Geography textbook (Vietnam Education Publishing House, 2011), the easternmost point on the mainland of Vietnam is in Van Thanh commune, Van Ninh district, Khanh Hoa province. Khanh Hoa is a coastal province in the South Central Coast, bordering Phu Yen to the North, Dak Lak to the Northwest, Lam Dong to the Southwest and Ninh Thuan to the South.

Previously, Mui Dien or Mui Dai Lanh ( Phu Yen ) was considered the easternmost point of our country. However, later when Mui Doi (Khanh Hoa) was discovered, experts based on the coordinates, recognized this as the exact easternmost point of the Fatherland on land. According to measurements, at Mui Doi, visitors can welcome the sunrise 4 seconds earlier than at Mui Dien.

At this location, a stainless steel cone was installed on August 4, 2012 to mark the extreme point. The journey to Mui Doi is much more arduous and difficult than Mui Dien. However, this is a place that young people who love backpacking really want to conquer.
