On the afternoon of November 14, Cong Thuong Newspaper will organize a discussion on 'What needs to be done to build Vietnamese product brands in Australia'.

After more than 5 years of taking effect, the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans- Pacific Partnership (CPTPP) has contributed to impressive export growth for Vietnam, including traditional markets such as Australia.

Australia is a partner with many FTAs with Vietnam, including: ASEAN-Australia-New Zealand FTA (AANZFTA), Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) and CPTPP. This is a very favorable condition for Vietnamese goods to increase exports and gain a solid foothold.

According to statistics from the General Department of Vietnam Customs, the total import-export turnover between the two countries reached 10.84 billion USD, an increase of 5.6% over the same period in 2023; of which, Vietnam's exports to Australia reached 5.03 billion USD, an increase of 30.3% over the same period last year.

Despite impressive growth in export turnover, Vietnamese branded goods exported to this market are still quite modest. Many Vietnamese exported products still carry foreign brands.

The reason why Vietnamese brands are still limited in this market is because many businesses are afraid to build their brands, accepting pure outsourcing production; there is no motivation to further enhance the value of the products and brands that can be brought. According to experts, building brands and exporting with their own brands is not the story of all businesses. This issue is only for a few businesses that really have potential, ability, understanding of the market and have a methodical strategy.
