Mike Penders is in the Chelsea squad that will win the FIFA Club World Cup 2025™. |
According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Mike Penders will be loaned out to Strasbourg (Ligue 1) by Chelsea next season to gain experience. The 19-year-old goalkeeper joined "The Blues" from Genk last summer for £17 million but stayed in Belgium and only made 9 appearances.
However, according to The Athletic , Penders is still considered by Chelsea as the number 1 option for the future, avoiding the same mistake as Thibaut Courtois, who had to wander 3 times before asserting his position.
Previously, coach Enzo Maresca also affirmed: "Robert Sanchez is number 1, Filip Jorgensen is number 2, and Mike Penders and the team will participate in the FIFA Club World Cup 2025™ for us to make the final decision."
Chelsea continue to be one of the most active clubs in the transfer market, bringing in big names like Jamie Gittens, Liam Delap and Joao Pedro. On the other hand, loaning Penders out is seen as a smart move.
In addition to Penders, Chelsea are also set to part ways with Noni Madueke (who will move to Arsenal) and Djordje Petrovic (who will join Bournemouth) this summer. For Chelsea, the rebuilding under Maresca has a lot to look forward to after the surprising FIFA Club World Cup 2025™ championship.
