This is one of two practice matches with international opponents of the Vietnam U23 team, in preparation for the Southeast Asian U23 tournament. This tournament will start in mid-July, in Indonesia.

The practice match between U23 Vietnam and U23 Taiwan took place at Ba Ria Stadium (HCMC). Facing the underdog U23 Taiwan, coach Kim Sang Sik's team took the initiative.
After the first half, U23 Vietnam led by 3 goals. In addition, the whole team also had many situations of besieging the opponent's goal.

In the second half, coach Kim Sang Sik's team continued to play well, even though coach Kim Sang Sik changed the entire lineup to experiment.
Also in the second half, the Korean coach gave the captain's armband to Vietnamese-American player Viktor Le. The player currently playing for Ha Tinh Club also contributed a goal for Vietnam U23 in this half, helping to seal a 5-0 victory for Vietnam U23.
Two days after this match, the U23 Vietnam and U23 Taiwan teams will have a rematch, also at Ba Ria Stadium. At the 2025 Southeast Asian U23 tournament, the U23 Vietnam team is in Group B with the teams of Cambodia and Laos. The regional tournament takes place from July 15 to July 29, in the two cities of Jakarta and Bekasi (Indonesia).
