On the evening of June 30, heavy rain occurred in Hanoi's inner city and neighboring areas with rainfall ranging from 20mm to 50mm.
In some places, over 70mm of rain caused many streets to be flooded, making traffic difficult. By late afternoon, the sky in Hanoi had darkened, and vehicles had to turn on their headlights.
Before a big storm, the moment when the sky of Hanoi with a giant cloud preparing to drain a huge amount of water, was captured, made a strong impression on viewers.
Many people compared the photo to a moment taken from a science fiction movie. Some even doubted whether this was a product of technological intervention or not.

Impressive moment of Hanoi photo before thunderstorm (Photo: Nguyen Hieu Linh).
Talking to Dan Tri reporter, Mr. Nguyen Hieu Linh, the author of the photo, said that the moment was taken by him at 4:00 p.m. from Pham Van Dong street (Bac Tu Liem district, Hanoi).
According to Mr. Linh, while he was working, he saw the sky darkening in one corner so he quickly ran to the rooftop for a better view. There, he saw the rain moving closer to his area.
To get a wide angle photo, he took 9 panorama shots. This photography technique allows creating a super wide angle photo, taking small angles in succession and combining them into a single wide angle photo.
Although he captured the memorable moment, the rain came so quickly that he still couldn't run fast enough compared to the speed of the storm.
Satisfied with the result, Mr. Linh shared the photo on his personal page and received a lot of interaction. In response to doubts about the photo being intervened by technology, he affirmed that this was an unedited photo.
"I do not use any artificial intelligence tools and have saved the original photos for comparison to prove the originality of the work," he said.
Mr. Linh currently works at a technology company. In addition to his main job, he also has a hobby of capturing moments of nature, everyday life, and impressive architectural works.
According to the hydro-meteorological agency, widespread rain in the North will last from June 27 and is forecast to last until July 2.
Mr. Nguyen Van Huong, Head of Weather Forecasting Department (National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting), said that the cause of this heavy rain was determined to be due to the low pressure trough passing through the Northern region, which is likely to become more active in the coming days.
Experts say that this heavy rain in the North could reach 100mm to 300mm each time, with some places reaching over 500mm. This is accompanied by the risk of extreme weather events such as tornadoes, lightning, flash floods, landslides, and flooding in low-lying areas.
