The Rach Gia Passenger Port Project (Kien Giang Province) was started in 2019 (phase 2019 - 2024), with a total initial investment of 410 billion VND, from the local budget. However, after many adjustments, the project has increased the investment capital to 488 billion VND.

The port is calculated and designed to accommodate an expected passenger volume of about 2,320,000 by 2030.

The purpose of building Rach Gia Passenger Port is due to the increasing demand for passenger travel to the islands: Phu Quoc, Nam Du, Lai Son, Hon Tre, especially during peak times on holidays, Tet, etc.
