The Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism has just decided to include Bun Bo Hue and the New Rice Festival in Hue into the list of national intangible cultural heritage.

reproduce, Decision No. 2203/QD-BVHTTDL of the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism has listed Bun Bo Hue in the List of National Intangible Cultural Heritage, under the category of Folk Knowledge.

This is a worthy recognition of the historical, cultural, artistic and economic value of this typical dish imbued with the identity of the ancient capital of Hue.

Bun bo Hue is not only a famous dish both nationally and internationally, but also the crystallization of hundreds of years of folk knowledge passed down through many generations; deeply reflects the soul, lifestyle and culinary culture of Hue people.

In particular, this dish is closely associated with religious life, community activities and traditional craft villages such as Van Cu vermicelli village, O Sa vermicelli and cake village...

In 2014, Bun Bo Hue was introduced by famous culinary expert Anthony Boudain on the American television channel CNN. In 2016, Bun Bo Hue was included in the list of Top 100 valuable Asian dishes by the Asian Record Organization. In 2023, the international culinary website Taste Atlas ranked Hue at 28th in the 100 cities with the best food in the world; in which, Bun Bo Hue is considered a "must-try Hue delicacy when coming here".

Heritage registration not only affirms the value of Hue culinary culture but also creates a legal foundation and important motivation for the locality to continue to promote the conservation, promotion and development of heritage values ​​in the cultural industry development strategy, contributing to the development of tourism and local economy and culture.

Along with that, Decision No. 2293/QD-BVHTTDL recognized the Bhuoih Haro Tome Festival - New Rice Celebration Festival of the Co Tu ethnic group in Nam Dong commune, Long Quang commune, Khe Tre commune (Hue city) as a National Intangible Cultural Heritage, belonging to the category of Traditional Festival, Social Customs and Beliefs.

The New Rice Festival is a typical agricultural ritual, reflecting the close relationship between humans, nature, and gods in the cultural life of the Co Tu ethnic group.

The festival usually takes place after each harvest season, with the meaning of thanking the gods, especially the rice god Giang Haro, for giving the village a bountiful harvest, a peaceful and prosperous life.

Preserved and passed down through many generations, the festival is a characteristic of the traditional rice cultivation cycle of the Co Tu people, and is also an important occasion for the community to gather, have fun and strengthen solidarity.
