On the morning of December 1, a representative of the Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education and Training said that according to the draft regulations on university admissions in 2025, the Ministry of Education and Training plans to apply a floor score for the Medicine and Pharmacy and Pedagogy groups. Accordingly, candidates must have academic results in all three years of high school from good or above, or a graduation score of 8 or above.

Some majors have a lower floor level of 6.5 points or more: PhysicalEducation , Music Pedagogy, Fine Arts Pedagogy, College-level Preschool Education and the majors of Nursing, Preventive Medicine, Midwifery, Dental Prosthetics, Medical Testing Technology, Medical Imaging Technology, and Rehabilitation Technology.

The above floor score will be applied to both the transcript and high school graduation exam scores. Previously, the Ministry set separate floor scores for these two groups, calculated based on a combination of three subjects.

"To ensure optimization and fairness among candidate groups in the 2025 enrollment, the Ministry of Education and Training plans to remove the high school graduation exam score threshold, only using the criteria of academic results and graduation scores as the floor for receiving application files for consideration," he said, adding that this expected floor score is higher than the current one - candidates only need to be classified as good or fair in grade 12.

Besides, the regulation of floor scores based on the results of all 3 years is to create a positive impact on the teaching and learning process at high school level.

The common floor score for the Medicine and Pharmacy and Pedagogy groups has been implemented by the Ministry of Education and Training for the past 6-7 years, aiming to improve the input quality of these two specific groups.

In the past two years, the minimum score from the graduation exam results for Pedagogy majors was 18-19 for a combination of three subjects, including priority points. For 11 majors in the Medicine and Pharmacy group, the minimum score was 19-22.5, the highest in Medicine and Dentistry.
