On September 19, the Ministry of Education and Training sent an official dispatch to the Departments of Education and Training regarding the organization of teaching and learning for schools damaged by storms and floods.

Many places in the flood-hit areas still cannot organize teaching.
Many places in the flood-hit areas still cannot organize teaching.

Accordingly, the recent floods have caused severe damage to schools, forcing students in some localities to stay home for many days. Even as the water receded, localities and schools have made efforts to restore the situation and welcome students back to school. However, there are still some schools and school sites that have been so badly damaged or isolated that they cannot continue to organize teaching.

To ensure the maintenance of learning for all students and the completion of the school year program as planned, the Ministry of Education and Training requests that the Departments of Education and Training direct schools to implement flexible teaching solutions, suitable to practical conditions to ensure the progress of program implementation according to the school year time frame but not causing pressure or overload for teachers and students.

In particular, the Ministry of Education and Training noted to review and have appropriate plans to bring students from schools and school locations that have not yet reopened to the main school or other schools in the area to study; for students who have to travel too far from home, there must be plans suitable to actual conditions to support students to study at semi-boarding and boarding schools during the time to overcome the impact of floods.

The Ministry of Education and Training has proposed mobilizing teachers from local schools to support teachers and students from schools affected by storms and floods to organize classes; and provide make-up classes for students who have to miss school. For students who are unable to attend school due to difficult circumstances, schools should have plans suitable to actual conditions to maintain their studies, such as assigning lessons and assigning teachers to directly support each student or group of students at their place of residence, ensuring safety and effectiveness.

Localities adjust schooleducation plans and develop make-up plans for students to ensure completion of the first semester and the entire school year's education program according to the general education plan of the locality and the whole country.
