BMW Motorrad has officially introduced the upgraded version of the R18 large-size cruiser for 2025, bringing a series of valuable improvements in design, engine and utility. Still retaining the characteristic nostalgic spirit, the R18 2025 is now more sophisticated and efficient, continuing to affirm its position in the high-end cruiser segment. The fender system, fuel tank and body are redesigned to be more uniform and seamless, creating the "monolithic steel block" feeling typical of classic car models.
Finishing details such as the round headlights, dual exhaust pipes and prominent metal BMW logo remain intact, enhancing the luxury. The saddle on the R18 2025 has been redesigned with thicker, softer padding, and an additional height of about 28 mm, providing a more comfortable sitting position for tall riders. The focus of the new version is still the symmetrical 2-cylinder boxer engine, 1,802 cc capacity, the symbol of the R18 series. However, BMW has refined to increase torque, reaching 163 Nm at 3,000 rpm, making the car stronger and more powerful in the mid-range. Maximum power remains at 91 horsepower at 4,750 rpm, but acceleration and hill-climbing performance will be better thanks to improved traction. This engine also meets Euro 5+ emissions standards, demonstrating BMW's efforts to meet strict environmental requirements in Europe and the US. An important change lies in the rear wheel design, from 16 inches in the old version, now increased to 18 inches. Together with the new multi-spoke rims or the premium “Contrast Cut” rim option, the overall R18 2025 becomes more solid and American cruiser than ever.
The rear suspension has also been retuned to accommodate the new rear wheel design, making the car run smoother on long journeys. BMW has also added a USB-C charging port, suitable for modern devices - a small but practical detail for those who love to travel far. BMW R18 2025 is divided into many versions, serving different customer groups: Standard R18, R18 Classic, R18 B (Bagger), R18 Transcontinental, R18 Roctane In addition, buyers can choose optional packages such as Style Blacked Out with the entire body painted in matte black, or Option 719 Olivine with a special blue color and shiny alloy wheels.
Currently, BMW Motorrad has not confirmed when the R18 2025 will be available in Vietnam, but with the appeal of previous versions, domestic motorcyclists can fully expect this cruiser model to soon appear through private or official importers. The BMW R18 2025 is not just a minor upgrade, but a solid step forward in terms of performance, design and rider experience. Still retaining the classic cruiser spirit, but "refined" to become more modern and efficient, the R18 2025 will continue to be the top choice for riders who are passionate about speed, style and difference. The BMW R18 2025 will go on sale in the second quarter of 2025 in Europe and the US. The starting price in the US market for the standard version is $15,395, while higher-end versions can cost up to $24,000 or more depending on equipment.
